State Ministry Leader: Dr. Dean Mathis

For many decades of his ministry Dean served as the Senior Pastor in one of the leading churches in Hobbs, New Mexico. He retired from his pulpit ministry in 2011 and he and his wife Betty Sue moved to Lansing, Michigan to be closer to their children. In God's providence they relocated their residence 15 minutes from the Sate Capitol. It was then that the Lord connected Dean and Betty Sue to Capitol Ministries through Congressman (and his former church congregant) Stevan Pearce. Steve is a part of the Members Bible Study here in our nation's capitol.

Dean says,

"Our goals are simple at the moment. We need to establish a consistent in-depth Bible study with legislators. Once that is up and running, a Bible study for support staff will come next. Support for the ministry has started to come in. What can I say, God is good!"

We are grateful for the help of Congressmen Bill Huizenga, Tim Walberg and Pete Hoekstra in helping Dean launch this ministry in their home state. Be praying for Dean and Betty Sue as they reach legislators for Christ throughout Michigan!
