Bishop Joseph Persaud was raised in a church in his South America home country of Guyana which taught that the Church should have nothing to do with government or political leaders.
He believed that until he studied the Bible to see what God actually said about the issue.
“I found that the Bible on politics is contrary to what I was taught,” he said. And since then, he’s had a passion to reach political leaders for Christ.
That desire met opportunity when Bishop Persaud met Ralph and Danielle Drollinger, founders of Capitol Ministries, when they were on a mission trip to Caribbean Island nations last year.
The meeting of the minds and hearts to reach political leaders resulted in Bishop Persaud, a well-known and highly-regarded visionary leader with vast experience in ministry, being named CM’s Global Director for the Caribbean.
In this self-supporting ministry role, Bishop Persaud is charged with finding Bible teachers and political leaders willing to begin weekly ministries and Bible studies to the leaders of their nations’ governments in the Caribbean region.
He is working to fulfill his vision and passion to see the knowledge of the Gospel greatly expand in his area of the world.
“I see a new and prosperous Caribbean where politicians and legislators are positively influenced by Biblical principles,” he said.
“I am happy to be a part of Capitol Ministries because it is the only of its kind that has embraced the Great Commission to engage those who tread the halls of political power. CM has a proven track record of 20 years of ministering to the spiritual needs of those so engaged.”
“I believe that with active CM discipleship ministries in every country, we can change the world for God and for good.”
Drollinger expressed appreciation for the efforts of CM’s Global Directors Jon Cassel and Oscar Zamora who were instrumental in introducing Bishop Persaud to Capitol Ministries’ mission.
“I am grateful to Jon and Oscar for helping to bring Bishop Persaud to the Capitol Ministries team,” Drollinger said. “There is a wide-open door for Christ in these Island Nations and I really believe Joseph is God’s man for the task!”
Bishop Persaud was named to the position after attending CM’s Annual Fall Training in Washington, D.C. in November 2017. Since then he has worked to identify and recruit faithful political leaders and skilled Bible teachers in Caribbean nations.
“My long-term goal is to have Bible studies in the Capitols of all 24 Island nations,” he said.

Most recently he was appointed by national leaders to serve on the International Council of the Church of God. He serves the New Testament Churches in Guyana as the Administrative Bishop. He is also a member of the Caribbean Council for the Churches of God. He holds the title of Executive Chaplain — Credentialed by Chaplaincy International, USA.
