When it comes to networking, Jon Cassel could teach seminars and this is one of the skills that makes him particularly well suited to oversee ministry development for the second most populated continent in the world.

After spending decades working in Africa for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), Jon is well networked across the continent and acutely understands the customs, traditions, and way of life in many African nations. And when opportunities present themselves, his keen instincts – that intangible that can’t be taught – kick in for this friendly, affable Pennsylvania farm boy who, before moving to Africa, was employed in many capacities in the railroad industry in his home state, including working as an engineer. One among many notable stories occurred in 2014 when Jon was swimming in the Atlantic Ocean near his Senegal home and overheard a nearby couple speaking American English. This was unusual for French-speaking Senegal, so Jon went to them and introduced himself. He learned that the couple were missionaries from Liberia. Knowing that Capitol Ministries was seeking a ministry leader for that country, Jon told the couple about CapMin and asked if they knew anyone who might be qualified and interested in leading a weekly Bible study ministry to national political leaders. And what do you know? They did. The couple put Jon in touch with Dennis Aggrey who today is leading a thriving ministry in Liberia. Jon believes deeply that a decision for Jesus Christ as a personal savior is paramount for political leaders across the world. He is enthusiastic to help bring that about in Africa.

“I am pleased to see those across Africa who wish to join with Capitol Ministries to see their Christian political leaders discipled and strengthened in their faith so that their countries can live under righteous governance.”
