Capitol Ministries’ mission is to work to fulfill The Great Commission by leading Public Servants to Jesus Christ.
Since 1996 we have been committed to obeying God’s command, found throughout the Bible, to reach kings and government leaders with His Word.
One of our favorite passages is in Acts when God tells Ananias to find and heal Saul who had been struck blind by the Lord. Saul had persecuted the Lord’s people and was renamed Paul by God, after his conversion. Ananias didn’t want to do it, protesting that Saul had done much harm to saints in Jerusalem.
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel.” — Acts 9:15
Between the two people groups in God’s directive are the kings. God made it clear that Paul was to reach the leaders of nations of the world with His Word.
Making disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena in the United States of America and in foreign Capitols around the world has been the mission of Capitol Ministries from our beginning. Like Paul, we are following God’s command to reach the leaders of our troubled world—for only through obedience to God is true hope and change possible.
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, But when a wicked man rules, people groan. — Proverbs 29:2
Decades after our founding, we are continuing our mission to deliver the Gospel to every political leader in every Capitol every year. Our vision is the same as it was from the beginning: to evangelize elected officials and lead them toward maturity in Christ. We stay away from politics altogether.
