The state and national leaders of tomorrow are serving in the city halls and county governments of small-town America today. That is what studies show, and that is why Capitol Ministries® is committed to creating discipleship ministries to leaders in the 40,000 incorporated neighborhoods across the United States.
Since 1996 we have been establishing Bible study-based discipleship ministries to legislators and constitutional officers in U.S. states, to national leaders in Washington, D.C., and to political leaders in foreign federal capitols. We do this by recruiting Bible-teaching evangelists to lead weekly Bible studies and partner them with Christian lawmakers who sponsor the studies and invite their colleagues to attend. Local Government Ministries (LGM) an outreach to the local political leaders of America is among our latest initiatives.
The curriculum for Local Government Ministries is Oaks in Office: Biblical Essays for Political Leaders, a collection of 52 of the most pertinent Bible studies that Ralph Drollinger has written in more than 25 years of ministry to specifically meet the personal and professional needs of public servants. Averaging eight pages long and one for every week of the year, the studies build upon one another to take the public servant on an increasing faith journey through the Old and New Testaments. Comprehensive and thorough, these Bible studies help the political leader come to Christ, develop in personal holiness, construct a biblical foundation, form a Christian world view, and increase in faith.
Local government groups are studying Oaks in Office in Sacramento, California, where Capitol Ministries® began in 1996, in Texas, and in several foreign nations where the book has been translated.
It is our prayer that discipleship Bible studies be planted to the 510,000 local appointed and elected officials in the United States as well as to their peers in foreign nations across the world.
