Annual National Gathering of State Legislators: Please Pray as CapMin Forwards Its Mission to Teach God's Word to Public Servants

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who is championing Capitol Ministries efforts to create discipleship ministries to local government leaders across America will speak about those efforts at the 48^th annual ALEC meeting of state legislators July 28-30.

ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council) is America’s largest nonpartisan organization of state legislators who are dedicated to the principles of limited government, free markets, and federalism.

This post-COVID quarantine gathering is expected to draw record attendance at the Salt Lake City venue.

Former Gov. Perry will join with Capitol Ministries President Ralph Drollinger at an early Friday morning devotional before addressing attendees at the ALEC meeting.

After sharing the Word of God at the devotional, former Gov. Perry will discuss how God is moving in the political arena across America and around the world.

Former Gov. Perry is passionate about CapMin’s Local Government Ministry (LGM) effort and has been spearheading efforts to create discipleship ministries to city and county public servants in the 40,000 incorporated communities across the United States.

Among former Gov. Perry’s efforts is an outreach to public servants to begin studying Bible studies in Drollinger’s book, Oaks in Office: Biblical Essays for Political Leaders. To learn more about this Bible study, click here.

The book contains 52 of the most relevant Bible studies from among the hundreds that Drollinger has written to specifically meet the professional and personal needs of public servants over his more than 25 years in ministry.

As U.S. Secretary of Energy in the Trump administration, former Gov. Perry attended the Capitol Ministries Bible study established in 2017 to members of the White House Cabinet and read these same Bible studies.

Former Gov. Perry said CapMin’s effort to establish discipleship ministries to local public servants is critically important to the future of our nation.

“America’s future political leaders are in the making today; they presently hold positions of leadership in local government,” he said. “I am passionate about Capitol Ministries’ efforts to reach today’s 500,000 elected local government leaders with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and disciple them with the Word of God so they may form a Christian worldview in their hearts.”

Joining former Gov. Perry at the CapMin ALEC booth will be Ralph and Danielle Drollinger, Pastor Brian and Mandi Hanson, and Pastor Cheyne and Misty Day. Pastor Hanson is CapMin’s International Director and co-ministry leader to Ohio state public servants, and Pastor Day is CapMin’s Oklahoma and Arkansas Ministry Leader.

Capitol Ministries asks prayer partners and supporters pray for the conference, that the mission of LGM will be forwarded, that qualified ministry leader recruits would be identified, and that many legislators who wish to study the Word of God would learn about CapMin Bible studies.

Whether your job is running a business, or whether your job is being a laborer, or whether your job is being in the United States Congress, it really doesn’t matter; if your faith is integrated into your life, it is going to affect how you think, what you do, and how you act.“For me, my faith is the center of my life. A few weeks ago, members of our Hillsboro Bible study began discussing when life begins. To teach them the biblical perspective, I gave the members copies of “God’s View of Babies Inside and Outside the Womb” which was written by Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries who leads Bible studies to U.S. senators and representatives every week on the Hill in Washington, D.C. Among many Scriptures quoted in the study was Psalm 139:13: For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

This verse points out that God is at work in the formation of the baby inside the womb, thus, life begins at the point of conception.

The next week one of the members of the Bible study reported that a voter had called to ask his position on this issue.

The candidate was equipped to share confidently his prolife stance as a result of the Bible study materials and our discussion.

Capitol Ministries Bible studies are helping upcoming leaders learn the Word of God in a way that brings out its applicability to our modern lives.

I am continuingly impressed by the applicability of God’s Word to our present time.
