Please Pray for CapMin’s Pastor Day as He Speaks at ALEC Conference of Legislators
CapMin requests that prayer partners and supporters join with us in prayer for Dr. Cheyne Day who will be leading a Bible study to some of the nation’s most influential political leaders at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) States & Nation Policy Summit in San Diego.
Pastor Day has been invited to give the invocation and to lead the Bible study at the ALEC Prayer Breakfast on Friday, Dec. 3. He will be asking God to grant the legislators boldness, wisdom, and favor as they serve their constituents in states across America.
He will also be opening some of the conference sessions in prayer.
Pastor Day serves at the ministry leader to members of both the Oklahoma Legislature and the Arkansas Legislature. Pastor Day leads a weekly Bible study in each state capitol and divides his time ministering and discipling political leaders in the two states.
ALEC is America’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators who are dedicated to the principles of limited government, free markets, and federalism.
Comprised of nearly one-quarter of the country’s state legislators and stakeholders from across the policy spectrum, ALEC members represent more than 60 million Americans and provide jobs to more than 30 million people in the United States, according to its website.
Pastor Day and Misty, his wife and ministry partner, will also be greeting legislators and distributing CapMin Bible studies, books, and other material at the information booth that will be housed under the CapMin Banner in the Exhibit Hall during the Dec. 1-3 conference.
The meeting will offer tremendous opportunities to inform legislators about CapMin’s mission since it’s founding in 1996, to establish Bible studies in all 50 states and our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena throughout the world. It’s a challenge the Days are excited about.
“I am very much looking forward to connecting with political leaders, encouraging them, and challenging them with the Word of God,” Pastor Day said. “I’m especially eager to tell political leaders about Capitol Ministries and look for new ministry opportunities in capitols across the United States.”
The driving force behind ALEC is the belief that “all Americans deserve an efficient, effective and accountable government that puts the people in control. ALEC provides a forum for experts to discuss business and economic issues facing the states.”
CapMin has participated in ALEC conferences for many years.
In September, Pastor and Misty Day along with Ralph and Danielle Drollinger, Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry who is heading CapMin’s Local Government Ministries initiative, and Brian and Mandy Hanson attended the 48th Annual ALEC conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Pastor Hanson is CapMin’s International Director. He also leads, along with Brian Solomon, the ministry to Ohio state legislators.
CapMin’s ultimate objective in teaching legislators God’s Word through discipleship ministries is to help fulfill the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20: Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
“Based on that authority, Jesus commissioned His disciples to make disciples of all the nations,” Pastor Day said. “That includes all peoples of all nations, including political leaders. In his book Rebuilding America, Ralph outlined the biblical precedence, priority, and importance of reaching leaders in the centers of power with the gospel.
“If the legislators of each of our 50 states are discipled, there will be a fulfillment of Paul’s words to Timothy in 1 Timothy 2:1-2: First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
“The result of reaching political leaders with the gospel is not only about their personal salvation, as important as that is,” Pastor Day said. “Reaching them and discipling them has a positive influence on all their constituents, furthering the spread of the gospel.
“At Capitol Ministries, we desire to faithfully fulfill our role assigned to us by the One who commissioned us, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
