July 2015
As promised, we are providing a link to the Christian Broadcasting Network’s story about the recent trip that the Capitol Ministries team and friends took to Belarus in Eastern Europe so you may view many of the events first-hand.
Please click here to watch the full story. The trip was filled with events and was historic for many reasons, including, for the first time in history, a presentation was made before the Belarusian Parliament by a U.S. Congressman.
Congressman Steve Pearce, 2nd D, New Mexico, who is a leading sponsor of Capitol Ministries in DC, talked to Belarus national leaders about the Biblical foundations of the U.S. Constitution and why values such as honesty, truth, integrity, fairness, hope and faith are vital foundational building blocks for an emergent nation.
The speech paved the way for Pastor Oleg Rachkovski, Capitol Ministries’ newly-named Eastern Europe Director, to establish a Bible study for his country’s national leaders in the Belarus Capitol in Minsk, which is currently underway.
The Capitol Ministries contingent, headed by Drollinger, traveled to Belarus in May at the invitation of Russian-born Mikhail Morgulis, writer, theologian and President of his U.S.-headquartered ministry, Spiritual Diplomacy. Pastor Morgulis was asked by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to spearhead efforts to examine ways to broaden the use of the Bible in the nation’s culture.
Representing the Washington DC’s Museum of The Bible (MOTB) during the trip, Danielle Drollinger presented the MOTB’s Public School Curriculum, “The Bible As Literature” to the Belarusian minister of Public Education. Also part of the contingent was Bill Alexson, former Boston Celtic Chaplain, and the President of Sportspower International Ministries who brought a team of retired NBA players to compete with the Belarusian national team in a nationally-televised game. During half time Alexon and the players gave their personal Christian testimonies and presented the Gospel message.
Capitol Ministries asks for your prayers that the relationships and bridges formed during the trip will continue to prosper.
