Please Pray for Mexico and CapMin Ministry Leaders as Violence Breaks out Pre-Election
For six years, Capitol Ministries has been working to launch ministries to political leaders across Mexico and now we need your prayers as unprecedented violence has broken out prior to one of the most significant federal elections the nation has ever held.
Please pray for the election of Godly men and women and for God’s protection in Mexico’s June 2 elections when more than 100 million voters are expected to cast ballots for 20,000 federal, state, and local candidates. Voters will be deciding Mexico’s president, members of Congress, a number of state governors, and who will fill a host of local offices.
Organized crime syndicates have been blamed for record levels of pre-election violence in which more than 30 local candidates and community leaders have been assassinated, according to one non-government independent agency.
Some candidates who are affiliated with CapMin, including those who have come to the Lord through CapMin Bible studies, are running for re-election. CapMin’s influence has spread across the nation through the diligent work of Mexico ministry leader Ricardo Arizmendi, said Oscar Zamora, CapMin Latin America Global Director.
“Ricardo, along with his wife Adriana, have been so fruitful, faithful, and strong in establishing CapMin in Mexico,” Zamora said. “We so appreciate working with him.”
Arizmendi, who leads a discipleship Bible study to members of Mexico’s House of Representatives, said he is thankful for CapMin supporters and asked for continued prayers.
“It’s been almost 6 years since we launched CapMin in Mexico City, making disciples, reaching and teaching CapMin Bible Studies with officials and Members of the House,” he said.
“We are grateful for CapMin supporter’s prayers to give strength and support to leaders from different political parties. We have a great need for God’s protection on these coming elections. We really appreciate every one of you. Blessings!”
A large number of Christians are running for office throughout Mexico. Please pray for wisdom, discernment, direction, and God’s protection over these candidates, community leaders, and voters. Please pray specifically for God’s protection and guidance for CapMin ministry leaders, political leaders who support our ministry, and all those affiliated and associated with our ministry in this Latin American nation.
Mexico’s President Andres Manual Lopez Obrador said he would deploy 27,000 troops from the military and National Guard so that voters would be able to cast ballots “calmly, safely, and without fear.”
