Why America Is Suffering God’s Wrath And What You Can Do About It
Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries, discussed God’s judgment on America during his appearance on the popular Frank Sontag Los Angeles, CA live drive-time radio talk show earlier this month. Drollinger explained that the concept of God’s wrath in the New Testament is found in Romans 1:18-32 which begins: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
The Scripture goes on to specify how God gives persistent unrighteous individuals over to their sins, but the New Testament does not address God unleashing his forsaking wrath, or turning his back, on nations, Drollinger said.
The Greek words krinó, which means ‘judge,’ metanoia, which means ‘repent,’ and ethnos, which means ‘nations,’ are not found together anywhere in the NT, which evidences that verses concerning God’s wrath pertain only to persons, Drollinger said.
However, Drollinger added that the United States may be feeling consequential wrath. Another form of God’s wrath, also known as reaping what you sow, consequential wrath is an inviolate law that God placed in a structured universe like the physical law of gravity.
“I definitely think America is under the wrath of reaping and sowing,” Drollinger said. “If you have $20 trillion-dollar debt, you will probably reap corporate national bankruptcy in time. If you don’t balance your checkbook, you will pay the consequences.”
Sontag and Drollinger discussed how bad political and social policy decisions could be traced to ungodly people holding positions of authority in major institutions that are important to the nation’s culture and future such as education, media and government, and that believers could do more to solve that problem.
“Believers have this authority that has been given to them by God,” Drollinger said. “They have the imputed Holy Spirit. They should be doing a whole lot more than they are doing.”
“We are inheritors of such a great salvation, we are slaves to Christ. That doesn’t mean we are just to live this life of luxury and leisure because we have been set free by the work of Christ! It means we are indentured slaves and we should be working furiously to grow the Kingdom!
“The degree that you grow the Kingdom is the degree to which you preserve the culture.”
