Romanian Pastor Receives Answers After Years of Prayer for His Country’s Leaders
After praying every day for two years for his country’s leaders and for God to reveal a way to serve them, Samuel Mitrofan has planted the first Capitol Ministries western Europe discipleship Bible Study in his home country of Romania.
“The mission of Capitol Ministries is my heart’s desire — to teach our leaders from the Bible and go deeper in the Word,” Mitrofan said. “After two years of daily prayer, Capitol Ministries came at the right time to help Romania with sound doctrine and teaching.”
With the second largest number of Evangelicals in Europe, Romania is ripe for the CM ministry.
“People are secular in most European countries, but in Romania, most people still fear God. Yet, even here, many traditional churches teach very little about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many who call themselves Christians do not have a relationship with Christ,” Mitrofan said.
Mitrofan is a preacher’s kid who worked as a chemical engineer and a businessman until deciding in his early 30s to devote his life to full-time ministry. Earlier this year he told a politically-connected friend about his desire to minister to national leaders and his friend told him about Capitol Ministries.
After attending CM’s 2017 Spring Training Conference in Denver, CO, Mitrofan was named Capitol Ministries’ Western Europe Director. Charged with finding experienced Bible teachers to create ministries to the leaders of nations in his geographical area, Mitrofan began with Romania, where he serves as CM’s Ministry Leader to the Romanian Parliament.
Shortly after being named Director, Mitrofan began working with Mircea Rosca, former Romanian Parliamentarian and former vice chairman of The Parliamentary Group of the National Liberal Party, who is also affiliated with Capitol Ministries.
The men met with several leaders in the Romanian Parliament to discuss creating the weekly discipleship Bible study. When the political leaders embraced the idea, the men met at a retreat where they devised a strategy for the success of the new ministry.
Mitrofan has translated into Romanian a number of CM Bible studies as well as Ralph Drollinger’s Book, Rebuilding A Nation, The Biblical Blueprint so leaders may study in their own language.
Eager to fulfill his responsibility to begin ministries in other countries, Mitrofan has spoken with leaders in Hungary and England as well as with a Dutch National TV commentator who is involved in the Christian Union and who offered to introduce him to a number of political leaders across the continent.
In Switzerland, Mitrofan partnered with an organization which also has a mission to minister to national leaders.
Working with Romanian Parliament members in 2017, Mitrofan helped plan a meeting of Christian political leaders who gathered together for the first time in Romanian history in October and a National Prayer Breakfast in November.
Mitrofan is also working with western European leaders who wish to promote CivicReach®, which is CM’s ministry to local political leaders. Discussions are already underway to translate into Romanian Drollinger’s new book, Oaks In Office, the 52-Bible study curriculum for U.S. local leaders that is currently in production.
Mitrofan and other Christians are working to find prayer partners to support the ministry.
“Capitol Ministries is the way to bring the knowledge from God’s Word to political leaders so they understand how God has placed them in this position of power and what He expects of them,” Mitrofan said.
“Please pray along with us as we reach more leaders in more countries with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Like all of us, they desperately need it.”
