ASUNCIÓN, PARAGUAY — On May 29, 2025, Capitol Ministries officially launched a Bible study in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay. Ralph and Danielle Drollinger, founders of Capitol Ministries, traveled to Paraguay alongside Latin America Global Director Oscar Zamora and his wife, Elizabeth, to celebrate the beginning of the new ministry.
Despite arriving at 2:30 AM and getting only a few hours of rest, the team was energized and joyful at the 11:30 AM launch event held at Hotel La Misión. Among the distinguished participants were Members of Congress and Senators and several Vice Secretaries of State—along with Óscar Rodríguez, the Mayor of Asunción whose national-level influence is due to the city’s size and importance.
Notably, the mayor’s wife, Lizarella Valiente, a sitting senator, will serve as an insider and host for the Bible studies alongside Pastor Miguel Ortigosa, the national CapMin ministry leader. Inspired by the training, the mayor took to social media to praise Capitol Ministries:
“I am grateful to Capitol Ministries for the invitation to participate in their launch here in Paraguay. Together with Lizarella, we joined this event with the conviction that public servants also need spiritual guidance. We deeply value initiatives that empower those called to lead in positions of influence—with faith, principles, and purpose.”
“Miguel is incredibly well-connected and deeply passionate about serving his country,” said Zamora. “He has been praying about how to use those connections, and this ministry launch is the fruit of that.”
Former U.S. Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta, who attended CapMin’s White House Bible Study during his time in the cabinet, was also present, expressed strong support for the mission:
“Every lawmaker in every nation can benefit from the study of Scripture. This is particularly true in Latin America, whose growing economies and populations benefit greatly from leaders grounded in faith, morality, and service to others. Capitol Ministries has blessed countless senators, governors, cabinet members, and members of congress with its weekly studies. Expanding this blessing to other nations is a critical calling.”
As Capitol Ministries continues to expand globally, its efforts in Paraguay represent a powerful step toward engaging political leaders with biblical truth.
“I am delighted by the expansion of Capitol Ministries across Latin America and even across the world. With dedicated national ministry leaders like Pastor Miguel Ortigosa, we concentrate our efforts on the primacy of evangelizing, teaching, and discipling public servants in Christ, rather than becoming a political lobbying force on moral issues,” concluded Ralph Drollinger.
