CapMin Teaches Public Servants to Observe Christ’s Birthday and His Precepts
In his popular publication, Poor Richard’s Almanack, America’s founding Father Benjamin Franklin made this observation:
“How many observe Christ’s birthday! How few, his precepts! O! ’tis easier to keep holidays than commandments.”
Franklin was speaking about the people of his time, but his insights are as true today as they were when he began publishing his Almanack in 1739.
During the month of December, the sights, the sounds, and the aromas of Christmas celebrations are found across the United States. But how many people worship the Christ Child in their hearts all year long?
So that elected and appointed public servants would come to know Him and love Him and obey His precepts is the reason Capitol Ministries teaches the Word of God to the political leaders across the globe, not just at Christmas, but every week of the year.
Our mission is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ throughout the political arena of the world.”
In fulfilling this mission, we are being obedient to the command that Jesus gave to His disciples in Matthew 28:16-20. This command has become known as “The Great Commission”:
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Capitol Ministries focuses on political leaders not because they are more important than anyone else, but because Scriptures in many books of the Bible from the Old Testament to the New Testament teach that reaching political leaders with God’s Word is a priority.
Among these Scriptures is 1 Timothy 2:1-2: First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority.
In this passage, the Greek word for “First” is “protos,” which translates as “first in priority” in English.
By being obedient to the Great Commission and by evangelizing political leaders and teaching God’s Word to them in weekly Bible studies, Capitol Ministries is making disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena of the world who keep not only the holidays, but also God’s commandments all year long.
