CapMin Team Explains Biblical Missiology – Attracts Partners, Warms Hearts and Weakens Strongholds

“I totally agree with you about the importance of ministering to government officials, but I have a stronghold in my heart,” a church leader confessed in a discussion with a CapMin leader at the recent Pastor Appreciation Day event in Philadelphia, PA.
The woman admitted that her heart filled with compassion for the person on the street with body piercings and tattoos. She is able to look beyond that person’s appearance and see a dearly loved person for whom Jesus died.
But when it comes to political leaders, her mercy is limited if not nonexistent. “I am unable to see them in the same way,” she confessed.
“The longer she talked, the more you could see that the Holy Spirit was touching her heart,” said Nate Belkstrom, CapMin Local Government Ministries (LGM) Midwest regional director. “It was almost like she was repenting on the spot as she understood what CapMin was trying to do.”
“I commend her for her honesty and believe that from this day forward she will see elected officials differently.”
This conversation took place at the Pastor Appreciation Day in Philadelphia, PA recently where a CapMin team explained our mission to pastors and church leaders who participated in the event. An estimated 200 people attended.
CapMin is the leading national sponsor of the 19 Pastor Appreciation Days that are hosted by Salem Media Group in association with their owned and operated local radio station affiliates. The events are being held all year all around the nation.
We are participating to recruit partners to teach the Bible to local political leaders. But in the process, we are also seeing some church leaders re-evaluate their own long-held biases after they learn from CapMin teams that the Scriptures place a high priority on reaching political leaders with God’s Word.
At the start of the day, participants viewed a pre-recorded video of Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of CapMin, who explained our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena throughout the world. He challenged churches, church leaders, and lay pastors to partner with CapMin in establishing discipleship ministries to local city and county public servants in their neighborhoods.
Pastor Nate and Morris and Carol Webster manned the CapMin booth and talked with visitors about the biblical priority of teaching the Word of ‘God to political leaders. Pastor Morris is LGM Northeast regional director.
The CapMin crew distributed ministry brochures, Bible studies that were written specifically for political leaders, the books All in Authority, Reigniting the Bible’s Top-Down Missions Strategy, which provides the biblical exegesis for discipling political leaders, and Oaks in Office, Essential Biblical Essays for Political Leaders, among other ministry material.
The CapMin team also collected about 42 information cards from people who were interested in learning more about LGM or wanted to teach the Bible to local political leaders.
“Before the workshops began, we were literally swamped with people who were seeking information about Capitol Ministries,” Carol said. “While we planned to talk with people individually, instead we engaged four or five pastors at a time.”
Pastor Nate said the interest was tremendous. “Again and again, we heard people say, ‘I want this!’ he said. “As Capitol Ministries was explained, one church leader said, ‘This explains the trauma of the separation of church and state!’ I thought the use of the word ‘trauma’ was significant.”
In addition to Salem’s 19 events, CapMin is also participating in an additional 20 Southern Baptist Convention meetings and independent Baptist Conventions throughout the year.
In all, CapMin will have the opportunity to explain our mission to some 20,000 pastors and church leaders who will be attending these conferences, Lord willing.
CapMin asks for prayers as we forge partnerships with individual Christians and local churches across America to establish Bible studies to city and county leaders in their communities. Do you know someone who would like to share God’s Word with political leaders? Learn more here!
