CapMin’s Global Leader for Europe: The Power of God’s Word Can Transform Spiritual Blindness into Revival!
“The Word of God has the power to transform nations from ashes and ruins into blooming economies and from spiritual blindness and obliviousness to revival and transformation.”
Those are the words of Slavik Rimski who was named Capitol Ministries’ full-time Global Director for Eastern and Western Europe last year and charged with growing the ministry’s mission across the continent.
Among other responsibilities, Rimski will be recruiting biblically reliant Bible teachers to lead discipleship ministries to political leaders at all levels from local governments to parliaments in nations across Europe.
In this formidable mission, he will be working closely with Valeriu Ghiletchi, a gifted evangelist, a former member of the Moldovia Parliament, and a dear friend of his who was recently named CapMin’s full-time European Union Ministry Leader. We will tell you more about Pastor Ghiletchi next week.
Rimski grew up in Ukraine when it was part of the Soviet Union and is passionate about ministering to public servants.
“I was raised in a family of persecuted Christians,” he said. “My grandfather was sentenced to ten years in prison for preaching the Word.
“My father passed on the baton of faith to me and I value the preciousness and beauty of the Bible. I feel extremely privileged that I am tasked to reestablish ‘sola scriptura’ as one the pillars for Europe’s transformation.”
The perspective that is gained by growing up in a nation that restricts religious freedom is tremendously valuable, said Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries.
“We in the West have little comprehension regarding what being persecuted in one’s blood lines does in terms spiritual formation, purity of motives, depth of character, and passion for Christ,” Drollinger said.
“All of those fruits are embodied in Slavik. He’s the kind of young man God uses to shake a nation.”
Rimski earned a degree in philology—the study of literary texts and oral and written historical sources—from Mechnikov University in Odessa. He earned a secondary degree at the President’s Academy for Public Administration in Ukraine.
After foreign exchange internships, Rimski began a career with Social Services in the Odessa region, becoming the assistant to a Member of Parliament.
He successfully ran for the office of councilman in the Odessa region and served for five years. He has served as Foreign Affairs Director for the Ukraine Conservative Movement. Rimski and his wife Sasha have been married since 2013 and have a son and a daughter. Sasha heads a charitable foundation that serves orphans and children in need.
Since 2019, Rimski has worked with CapMin to establish Bible studies for political leaders in European capitals. He was named Global Director in the autumn of 2021.
Rimski is excited about working with his friend Pastor Ghiletchi to employ the top-down missions strategy that is found in many places in the Bible – making it a priority to teach the Scriptures to the affinity sphere of political leaders.
“It is known to all that Europe is in a spiritual decline,” Rimski said. “Churches and cathedrals are being turned into pubs, gyms, and beauty salons.
“Among many Christians the Word of God is forgotten and unopened Bibles are covered by thick layers of dust. This must change!”
Additionally, as in the United States, there is a great misunderstanding of what is meant by “separation of church and state.”
“Very few churches have the vision to reach out to those in power,” he said. “Some ten years ago, people who ran for political office in Ukraine could easily get excommunicated from the church.
“The church does not understand that state and church are to be separate institutionally speaking, but that does not mean the church should not influence the state.”
Rimski noted that a leader’s influence on society is keenly seen in 2 Kings chapter 22 which teaches about Josiah who was eight years old when he assumed the crown. When King Josiah initiated the restoration of the temple, the high priest found the forgotten Book of Law.
“This verse tells us, ‘When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his robes.’ The king repented and the whole kingdom turned to God and obeyed the teaching of God stated in the book of law.”
“The Scriptures—the pure and undefiled Word of God—will change Europe. Public servants need to hear what the Bible says and we intend to do so by bringing them in relationship with Jesus,” Rimski said.
Rimski will be utilizing the large database of political and ministry leaders that he collected over the years to recruit potential ministry leaders who are proven, Bible-teaching evangelists. He will work with local churches and prayer teams to support ministry leaders.
He believes his association with Capitol Ministries is providential. Rimski was very busy with several local and international projects when he sensed a need to pray about how to best serve God in the future.
“I prayed the Prayer of Jabez for God to expand my horizons significantly,” he said.
“God did not let Himself wait for too long. My request was granted when Ralph and Danielle Drollinger, whom I have known for some years, asked me to become part of their Global team of making disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena. I was stunned and knew immediately that God was opening this huge door for me.”
“I do not see a more noble mission than making disciples of Jesus. First of all, I want to please the Lord in fulfilling this Great Commission. My priority is reach public servants and all in authority with the Word of God.”
Drollinger said Rimski’s leadership and influence will play a great role in helping to further CapMin’s long-term mission of establishing 200 discipleship ministries to political leaders in 200 foreign nations.
“It is such an honor and blessing to have Slavik as a part of CapMin’s worldwide leadership team!” Drollinger said.
“We are thrilled that God saw fit to bring him onto our team to help fulfilling the Great Commission! I just love this man! Thank you Jesus for Slavik and Sasha!”
