CapMin’s Local Government Bible Studies – empowering our leaders and our nation!
Garrett Gatewood, vice mayor of Rancho Cordova, CA was among public servants who completed the first Local Government Ministries (LGM) Bible study last year which is currently serving as the exemplar for the other studies being created across America for local leaders.
The curriculum for the year-long Bible study is Oaks In Office: Biblical Essays for Political Leaders, the four-volume book set that contains 52 of the most pertinent studies that Ralph Drollinger, President of Capitol Ministries, has written over the course of 24 years in ministry to meet the personal, professional and faith-based needs of public servants. Bible study material is provided at no cost to participants.
Dr. Dan DeShong, a retired businessowner who has decades of leadership experience with Christian ministries, led the first LGM Bible Study. Now that it is completed, Dr. DeShong is leading those same public servants in a second year of Bible studies.
“Local government leaders are the boots on the ground, we are the ones who are dealing with the day-to-day issues of the nation right now. We are also the future congressmen and senators.
Vice Mayor Gatewood said the studies are empowering local leaders and will have a great impact on our nation as more local public servants become involved.
“Ninety percent of the politicians I know claim to be Christian and want to live according to our beliefs but it is hard when we don’t actually know what the Bible says, and that is what the Capitol Ministries Bible study teaches.
“When local leaders actually understand what the Bible says, we can vote and make policy according to our faith. After tax collectors, God instructed that leaders be reached. If Local Government Ministries Bible studies are offered throughout the U.S., they would have a major effect on our leaders and our nation.”
Dr. DeShong is also LGM Director of Leader Certification and is responsible for recruiting and certifying CapMin ministry leaders to lead the studies.
