Ralph has started Bible studies for the White House Cabinet, the Senate, the House, state legislators, and in foreign nations around the world and now, local government. I highly support this effort. Local government is often the birthplace of those who will become state and national leaders. Providing a firm foundation early in their careers will not only benefit policies in our bedrock communities but will also set these leaders on a firm path as they move to higher office. It is particularly important today because there is a falling away from our Judeo-Christian heritage and the very future of our nation is in jeopardy. We live in troubling times as many try to replace the values and principles that are foundational to the success of our nation. The aforementioned endeavors to engage with civic leaders at the local level right through to the White House will pay tremendous dividends for us and for those who come after us.

As CapMin’s Director of Local Government Ministries, I am seeking qualified candidates to establish weekly Bible studies to city and county elected and appointed public servants across the United States. I also led the first LGM Bible study to city and county commissioners in the greater Sacramento, CA area. I taught the curriculum, Oaks in Office: Biblical Essays for Political Leaders, which contains the most pertinent Bible studies Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries, has authored to meet the spiritual, personal, and professional needs of Christian legislators over his more than 25 year ministry. Our Sacramento group is still meeting to study the Bible and we are studying Oaks in Office a second time.

The experience was exhilarating to say the least! None of us had any idea that the Bible had so much to say about immigration, parenting, racism, deficit spending, and other contemporary issues. One elected official had planned to leave politics and now he says, “No wonder God has me in this position!“

As Christians, we sort of take biblical precepts and doctrines for granted, but when the issues are broken out in specific chapters like Ralph has done in Oaks in Office, they become very clear and very real.

This first group was pretty excited about this study and will be sharing their story with city and county commissioners around the country. Who knows where God will take this?
