CM North America Director Hitting the Road Again for Summer Ministry Tour
Capitol Ministries’ North America Director Perry Gauthier and Faith, his wife and ministry partner, are hitting the road again this summer to buoy existing Ministry Leaders and to find others like them.
The CM dynamic duo won’t visit as many states as they did last year — 17 as compared with 30 — but the mission promises to be just as arduous and present as many obstacles that they say they are ready to tackle.
“Two primary objectives of the tour is to support existing Ministry Leaders and to identify and bring on board experienced Bible teachers to lead discipleship ministries in states that do not have them,” Pastor Gauthier said.
Capitol Ministries, a 21-year-old non-profit, creates discipleship ministries to political leaders in local, state, national, and international capitols by partnering Bible teachers with Christian lawmakers for weekly Bible studies.
The Gauthiers have already completed the first leg of the journey and have visited Ministry Leaders as well as friends and associates in Midwest states.
The two also made a stop in Chicago to meet with leaders at the Willow Creek Association which every year hosts the Leadership Summit, a hallmark event that focuses on the spiritual gift of leadership.
The event draws more than 10,000 participants and broadcasts the event to more than 100,000 people world-wide.
Last year the Gauthiers and Oscar Zamora, CM’s Latin America Director, attended the Summit.
During that event, Zamora, who is affiliated with the Willow Creek Association, hosted a luncheon for 25 men from Latin America countries where he and Pastor Gauthier talked about Capitol Ministries’ mission.
As a result, seven of the men committed to creating ministries to their nation’s leaders and attended Capitol Ministries’ Fall 2017 Training Conference in Washington, D.C.
“This year Faith and I met with some of our Willow Creek Association friends to continue building our relationship,” Pastor Gauthier said. “The organization has a massive network and we hope to work with them to find leaders for North America and across the globe. This is the organization that brought us Oscar!”
Since being named a Global Director in 2017, Zamora has made great progress in Latin America, working with associates to establish ministries to leaders in Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
Zamora also arranged for Ralph Drollinger’s book, Rebuilding America, The Biblical Blueprint, to be translated into Spanish under the new title, Reconstruyendo Una Nación (Rebuilding A Nation).
Recently, Zamora also offered his assistance to Jon Cassel, CM’s Africa Continental Coordinator, who speaks several languages, but not Spanish.
Working from his home country of Peru, Zamora used Skype to translate for Cassel who was speaking to a group of pastors in Equatorial Guinea, Africa’s only official Spanish-speaking nation, about establishing a discipleship ministry to national leaders.
As North America Director, Pastor Gauthier oversees CM ministries in the United States, mentors Ministry Leaders, and recruits men to create new state discipleship ministries.
For 10 years Pastor Gauthier has also served as Ministry Leader to Members of the Nebraska Legislature, writing and leading his own weekly Bible studies, discipling legislators, and evangelizing those who do not know God.
We will be telling you more about the Gauthier’s travels in future Ministry Updates.
