Drollinger Prays at ALEC Conference: “May We Never Jettison Our Theistic Basis for Our Great Democracy!”
Praying that God’s truth would be illumed through policy and discussion, Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries, delivered the prayer at the plenary meeting of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Conference in December.
Drollinger’s prayer was made before breakfast at the 49th annual States and Nations Policy Summit that was attended by conservative legislators from states across America including Kansas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Iowa, Maine, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and Michigan, among many others.
ALEC is America’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization of state legislators who are dedicated to the principles of limited government, free markets, and federalism.
Drollinger was introduced by Karen Fann, ALEC national chairman who at that time was president of the Arizona Senate. Drollinger prayed:
“Let’s pray together. Father in Heaven, we are so grateful for ALEC and what it stands for, for its theistic foundation, that it is tethered in its principles relative to the immutable truths of Your Word.
“We are grateful that we are in a nation that has a history of promulgating Your truths through our policies.
“We know that conservativism, politically, does not last unless it is rooted in theism, and so may we never jettison our theistic basis for our great democracy.
“We know on the other side, progressivism is rooted in subjectivism. It is not tethered to absolute immutable truth. As a result, it can only quote Dr. Wellithink.
“May we not fall into that. May we stay rooted in Your timelessness that You have explicated in the holy writ of Your Word. Lord, we give You thanks for this day. We thank you for the plentiful, bountiful food that You always supply for us in our nation, and we are grateful for all that You have done in prospering our country as it relates to fulfilling the Great Commission worldwide.
“And so, bless today’s events, the speakers; may this be a time when Your truths are illumed through policy and discussion. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Drollinger also included a special blessing for his friend, U.S. Senator Mike Braun, a speaker who addressed the gathering immediately after Drollinger’s prayer.
Former vice president Mike Pence delivered the keynote address. Other speakers included Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears of Virginia.
Capitol Ministries hosted a booth that was staffed by Dr. Cheyne Day, and his wife and ministry partner Misty. Pastor Day is ministry leader to members of the Arkansas Legislature. Pastor Day and Misty met and talked with legislators, explained CapMin’s mission to make disciples in the political arena of the world, and distributed CapMin brochures and Drollinger’s books.
