From the Caves of Nepal to the Capitol

When Kumar Praja, Capitol Ministries Director for Asia Minor, began sharing his story, it was immediately clear that this was a testimony of God’s grace. He spoke with humility, gratitude, and a deep awareness of the Lord’s faithfulness. Only a few decades ago, his family’s life looked nothing like it does today.
“About 40–45 years ago, my family was in the jungle. We were living in a cave. We didn’t have any house. We didn’t have any land.”
He described his community as one of the most marginalized and overlooked in Nepal—uneducated, isolated, and struggling simply to survive.
“We were just like a most marginalized community.”
Then Kumar shared the moment when everything began to change:

“The Lord sent someone—a missionary from New Zealand.”
That missionary did something few people would be willing to do. He didn’t simply visit and leave. He stayed. He lived among the people.
“He learned our native language. Then after that, he preached the Gospel.”
Kumar explained that this missionary eventually met his grandfather and began sharing Christ. The Gospel took root—and began spreading from one generation to the next:

His grandfather believed. His father believed. And now Kumar is a third-generation believer—living proof of what God can do when the Gospel takes root.
Then Kumar said a sentence that became the theme of his entire testimony:

“The Lord has brought me from the caves to the Capitol.”
It is difficult to overstate what that means. Kumar described a childhood and family history marked by survival and hardship—living in the jungle, lacking basic necessities, and catching fish for food—yet today he is serving as a ministry leader, meeting with public officials, and laboring to bring God’s Word to those in authority.
As Kumar spoke about ministry, one thing became clear: he does not see himself as special. He sees God as faithful. He explained that he takes every opportunity to speak about Christ—whether with ordinary people or leaders in the public arena.
“Whenever I get a chance, I speak the Word of God. I never fear to speak about the Gospel. Because if I do not speak, then who will speak?”
Since joining Capitol Ministries in 2023 as regional Director, Kumar has become a key leader in the expansion of the ministry across Asia. He personally leads a Bible study with influential leaders in Nepal, including members of parliament and former ministers.
Under Kumar’s leadership—and through the faithful efforts of local ministry leaders—Capitol Ministries is now present in multiple nations, including Nepal, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, and Malaysia.
Kumar expressed deep gratitude for God’s timing and provision, noting that the Lord is steadily opening doors—even in environments where Christian ministry is often pressured or restricted. His heart is burning with urgency to reach officials with the Gospel:
“I want all leaders to accept Jesus Christ before His Second Coming.”
Please pray for Kumar and for the ongoing work of Capitol Ministries across Asia. And as Kumar reminded us, the same God who reached a family in the jungle is still at work today—bringing His Word to the highest levels of government, one soul at a time.
