Dear Ministry Partners,

This has been a packed couple of weeks in DC.

Of highlight, above and beyond the Cabinet, Senate, and House weekly Bible studies here, has been the sudden emergence of new Capitol Ministries (CM) discipleship Bible study opportunities in the European Union Parliament. This body consists of 600 Parliament Members from 26 Western and Eastern European nations who meet two weeks every month in Brussels and one week every month in Strasbourg, France.

How did this all come about? If you remember, last year we decided to grant a feature article interview to a leading German newspaper (unlike stories by the American press, the article was quite accurate). The article went all over Europe and was reprinted in part or whole in many other media outlets.

That led to a leading Evangelical in Germany, Dr. Thomas Schirrmacher, (good, conservative, not liberal, theology with four earned Ph.D.’s) setting up a dinner with me in DC. This led to further meetings with men of good theology whom Thomas knows and who he brought to meetings the following days.

These new acquaintances all believe Western and Eastern European Capitals need what CM is offering &mdash Bible teachers who lead in-depth, applicable Bible studies on their capitol campuses! They believe there is a great need for what we specialize in as a ministry organization! By the end of the week, we had put together an emerging team of insiders (those who live in Brussels who know the right EU Parliamentarians to begin with) and an outsider — a wonderful, seasoned Dutchman whom we look to train to lead the Bible teaching/evangelism ministry.

Did I mention I like Belgian waffles? We are excited to be a part of this for many reasons.

Our new friends have persuaded me that the best way to fan the CM flame throughout European Capitals is to build an exemplary ministry in the EU Parliament since those members go back home to their countries at least every month, and often seek other offices in their respective countries.

We are also seeing wide open doors this past week into a Berlin CM start — all this is of course in addition to our works that are taking off in Romania and Ukraine.

Please join me in praying for the EU ministry launch this year! This is all God’s doing; we did not see this coming.

A few weeks ago, members of our Hillsboro Bible study began discussing when life begins. To teach them the biblical perspective, I gave the members copies of “God’s View of Babies Inside and Outside the Womb” which was written by Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries who leads Bible studies to U.S. senators and representatives every week on the Hill in Washington, D.C. Among many Scriptures quoted in the study was Psalm 139:13: For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

This verse points out that God is at work in the formation of the baby inside the womb, thus, life begins at the point of conception.

The next week one of the members of the Bible study reported that a voter had called to ask his position on this issue.

The candidate was equipped to share confidently his prolife stance as a result of the Bible study materials and our discussion.

Capitol Ministries Bible studies are helping upcoming leaders learn the Word of God in a way that brings out its applicability to our modern lives.

I am continuingly impressed by the applicability of God’s Word to our present time.
