Dallas, TX • November 10–13, 2025
From the Atlantic shores to the Pacific coastline, God is raising up men who desire to disciple public servants in their local communities. That calling was unmistakably evident in Dallas, TX, where 23 men gathered for Capitol Ministries’ third Local Government Ministry (LGM) Training Conference. Over four days, these men were equipped to plant and lead weekly, verse-by-verse Bible Studies with public servants in their own government arenas.
A Strong Start from a Faithful Friend of CapMin
The conference opened Monday evening with a special message from U.S. Congressman Nathaniel Moran of Texas. He offered a heartfelt testimony about the impact of CapMin in his own life as a public servant:
“CapMin Bible Study is my guidepost—this ministry keeps me steady.”
He described how CapMin’s Bible Studies have brought clarity during critical decision-making moments and urged attendees not to underestimate the importance of local government ministry. Reflecting on his own journey—from City Council member, to County Judge, to Congress—he encouraged the men to begin simply:“Approach your local leaders with a printed Bible Study, and ask how you can pray for them.”
Training Designed for a Unique Mission Field

Brian Hanson, CapMin’s International Director, expressed appreciation for the caliber of the men who attended:
“We see the ministry expanding rapidly as men learn the vision of working with political leaders in their own local venue or around the world. The men at this training were of high caliber — most already involved in ministry and who have the bandwidth to accomplish the ministry we have been called to.”
One of the attending pastors echoed this sentiment:
“The political harvest is plentiful! And CapMin truly trains laborers of excellence!”
Brian Solomon, Global Director for Worldwide Training, led the teaching on how to establish, lead, and sustain discipleship ministries for political leaders. His instruction resonated deeply. One pastor remarked:
“I was reminded that the Great Commission includes every sphere of influence—even the halls of government—and that faithful discipleship within those circles can transform entire nations.”
A significant part of the week’s impact came from the personal investment of CapMin’s leadership team, who provided training, encouragement, and one-on-one interaction throughout the conference. Serving together were Dr. Dan DeShong, National Director of Local Government Ministries; Jon Strain, Associate Director for LGM; Randy Covington, North America Global Director; Alberty Reyes, Global Director for the Caribbean; Cheyne Day, State Ministry Leader for Arkansas, and Misty Day, Conference Coordinator. Their presence, wisdom, and pastoral care shaped the tone of the entire week.
Moments of Discovery and Confirmation

Participants repeatedly shared how the training deepened their understanding of the mission field within government. For some, it brought new clarity:
“It opened my eyes to the fact that government officials are an unreached people group.”
A chaplain attending the conference noted the practical relevance of the teaching:
“Hearing real examples of Bible studies taking place in state capitols and Congress was both encouraging and practical. I can now see how the principles I use in law-enforcement chaplaincy can be adapted to reach government leaders with the gospel.”
This Training Conference was the result of a major team effort. Dr. Dan DeShong, CapMin’s Director of Local Government Ministries, laid key groundwork, and Misty Day faithfully handled the administrative side—meticulously coordinating every detail to ensure the conference ran seamlessly.
The heaviest lift, however, came from CapMin’s Regional Directors—Keith Hill from the Southwest, Gene Sipprell and Nate Belkstrom from the Midwest, and Morris Webster from the Northeast—who spent months inviting candidates, cultivating relationships, and guiding each trainee through the vetting process. Their persistence overcame many obstacles, and even during the conference they continued providing relational support and helping the men discern their calling.
A Growing Movement for the Political Harvest

The Dallas LGM Training Conference affirmed once again that God is calling and equipping faithful men to carry the Gospel into the unique world of local government. From city halls to county offices, these leaders are returning home with renewed clarity, practical tools, and confidence in the transforming power of God’s Word.
