Ministry Launched to Honduras Congress and Soon—to the Presidential Cabinet
Please join us in prayer for the Capitol Ministries discipleship ministry that officially launched last week to Members of the National Congress of Honduras — and for a separate ministry that is being created to Members of the Presidential Cabinet of that Democratic Republic.
“The spiritual maturity of a country’s leaders are vital to the future direction of a nation,” Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries told the 50 Congressmen and Congresswomen at the official launch Thursday, November 8 that was held in a beautiful, well-appointed room inside the Honduras Capitol Building in Tegucigalpa, the capital city. The Honduras unicameral legislature has a total of 128 members.
Afterward, a reception and meetings were held at the Presidential Residence where President Juan Orlando Hernandez spoke with Drollinger about establishing a discipleship ministry and Bible study to Members of the Presidential Cabinet.
Others attending included First Lady Ana García Carías; Danielle Drollinger; Pastor Muñoz and his wife, Esther; and Oscar Zamora, Capitol Ministries Latin America Global Director, along with Elizabeth, his wife, and ministry partner.
President Hernandez became interested in a Cabinet Bible study after a recent visit to the United States where he met with Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, both of whom sponsor the White House Capitol Ministries Bible study that Drollinger teaches weekly in Washington, D.C.
“President Hernandez was so impressed with the consistency of their beliefs and their biblical principles and values that are fortified through the Capitol Ministries Cabinet Bible study, that he asked to have an identical study for his cabinet,” Zamora said.
“As I always say, this is done only through God! Praise the Lord that God keeps opening doors for Capitol Ministries in Latin America!”
Drollinger applauded Zamora and Pastor Muñoz for their work in putting the new ministries in motion.
As CM’s Latin America Director, Zamora is tasked with recruiting Bible-teaching evangelists and pairing them with Christian political officials to create ministries to high-ranking leaders in the nations within his geographic area.
Honduras national political leaders are eager for in-depth teaching.
The Congressional ministry unofficially began meeting in September when Capitol Ministries Leader, Pastor Miguel Muñoz, met with 14 Congressman and 5 Congresswomen in the offices of Tomás Zambrano, the First Secretary of Congress.
During that first meeting, Pastor Muñoz led CM’s The Missing Mandate in Modern Missions, Bible study which demonstrates the biblical primacy for reaching the world’s political leaders with the Word of God.
Through the teachings of Capitol Ministries Bible Studies, political leaders will better understand their responsibility to influence the nation, Zamora said.
“We are really excited about the Honduras Capitol launch,” Drollinger said. “There is a real sense of revival in the capitol — I learned more from them than I think they learned from us.” “It’s great to know too that Vice President Pence and Secretary of State Pompeo have so effectively influenced President Hernandez to launch CM with his Cabinet members.”
For 22 years, Capitol Ministries has been committed to establishing ministries to leaders around the world.
Through the power of the transformed hearts of political leaders, nations can and do change, Drollinger said. Solomon, as he trains his son to be the next leader of Israel, makes this point:
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. Proverbs 14:34
“To God be the glory as Honduras turns toward Him in extremely noticeable, measurable ways,” Drollinger said.
