Nevada Secretary of State: “Bible studies help Lawmakers grow through Scripture”
June 2015
Capitol Ministries Bible studies in the Nevada State Capitol help Christian legislators, lobbyists and staff grow through Scripture and learn how the Bible relates to our lives today.
As an elected official, you are often away from home and not able to attend Bible studies at your home church. It is important for legislators to continue practicing their faith, and it is so beneficial to have an organized prayer group that you know is going to be there for you every Tuesday at the Capitol.
Every week we come together to pray for what is going on in someone’s life, the life of someone’s family member, a legislator who needs some assistance, or issues occurring not only in the state, but also in national government. The hour we spend together is very valuable.
For me, it has always been such a nice grounding experience — a place where we can go to listen, learn about other people’s needs, and participate in a Bible study. Ministry Leader Dan Madison is always prepared as we go through Scripture and have a discussion.
Dan and Capitol Ministries help me learn and grow through Scripture. When Scripture is read, dissected by a Bible teacher, and applied to the real world, it helps you understand how the Bible relates to life in the Legislature and to our lives as lawmakers.
I am so glad Capitol Ministries has Bible studies in so many states as well as a presence in our nation’s capital. We are bonded by a common thread — Christianity. Bible studies provide that connection. That solidarity and combined effort help ensure that we represent our states well and help elected officials to be the best they can be.
