New Board Member Dr. Tom Price Endorses CM Expansion
Dr. Tom Price, former Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary who greatly valued CM’s Bible studies during his government service in Washington, D.C. has accepted a position on the Capitol Ministries Board of Directors.
Dr. Price first attended the weekly House Bible study led by Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries, as a U.S. Representative serving Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, a position he held from 2005 through 2017.
Shortly after being appointed Secretary of HHS by President Donald Trump in 2017, Dr. Price helped to create the CM discipleship Bible study to Members of the White House Cabinet which today is sponsored by 10 Cabinet Members. A separate weekly Bible study serves U.S. Senators.
No longer in government service, Dr. Price joined CM’s Board of Directors so that he may serve the nation in other crucial ways.
“The United States is a very special place,” said Dr. Price. “It was founded upon a Judeo-Christian ethic and principles. The incredible importance of that foundation and continuing that foundation cannot be minimized. As President John Adams said, ‘Our constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.’
“This charges us with making certain that we encourage a religious and a moral people, a religious and moral society, and one of the ways I’ve seen that be more likely fulfilled is through the Bible studies I’ve been involved in with Capitol Ministries.”
Additionally, Dr. Price explained, the discipleship Bible studies created for political leaders sustain, support, and mature Christians in office as well as provide a place where they may invite colleagues who are struggling or seeking to know God. He also appreciates the inclusion of spouses. His wife, Dr. Betty Price, a Georgia State Representative, attended the studies when she was in D.C. The couple has one adult son. Before entering public service, Dr. Price was a practicing orthopedic surgeon.
After becoming acclimated with the scope of Capitol Ministries’ 21 years of work, Dr. Price said he will help facilitate continued growth both in the United States and foreign nations. Dr. Price was an early supporter of CM’s newest ministry CivicReach®, a partnership with local churches to take the Gospel to city and county leaders in America’s neighborhoods.
“I am heartened and fortified by the remarkable expanse that Ralph and Danielle have accomplished, whether in state capitols, Washington, D.C., or international capitols around the world, and now moving into cities and counties with a new endeavor,” he said. “I want to be able to gain appreciation of all that has been done and then do all I can to continue to encourage and facilitate more avenues of expansion.”
“After attending the House study for all those years, I feel the incredible importance of making Capitol Ministries’ Bible studies available to those of us who feel so strongly about growing in our faith, protecting our nation’s Judeo-Christian foundation, and having the opportunity to invite others who are struggling, seeking, or of a similar spirit.”
