The Coronavirus Pandemic: Is the World Suffering God’s Wrath?

March 21, 2020

coronavirus

Whether America is suffering God’s wrathful judgment as described in the Bible against Old Testament nations such as Babylon and Assyria is currently a debatable subject among evangelicals.

Some believe the coronavirus is the wrath of God visited on a world that has turned its back on Him. But what does the Bible say about God judging nations in the Church Age – the age we are living in?

Capitol Ministries takes a look at the five forms of God’s wrath and how and when He imposes them in this week’s Bible study, “Is God Judging America Today?”

“I don’t see a “forsaking” form of God’s wrath in the New Testament relative to nations like those certainly on display in the Old Testament,” said Ralph Drollinger, President of Capitol Ministries and author of the study available here. “The forsaking form of God’s wrath on nations does not appear in the Scriptures relative to the Church Age epoch of biblical history, the time in which we live.”

“And I don’t think we should label the coronavirus as a form of God’s cataclysmic wrath, such as the form of wrath He manifests in the OT with the Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, or the “unparting” of the Red Sea, because that form of God’s wrath is void of a human curative — and I think we’ll soon see a human cure for the coronavirus.”

“Those forms of God’s wrath were present in Old Testament times and do return in the Tribulation Period as evidenced in the book of Revelation, but not now.

“Having stated all that, sowing and reaping wrath exists throughout all of biblical history, and in the Church Age, for sure.

“Relative to the coronavirus pandemic crisis, this is not God’s abandonment wrath nor His cataclysmic wrath, rather it is sowing and reaping wrath: A biblically astute evaluation of the situation strongly suggests that America and other countries of the world are reaping what China has sown due to their leaders’ recklessness and lack of candor and transparency.”
