We are making an Internal Shift to “Multiply” our Jon Cassel—Prolific Ministry Developer and Relationship Builder
CapMin has made some administrative changes so the ministry may benefit more fully from Jon Cassel’s gifts in administration, relationship building, and ministry development.
Cassel has been named to two assistant global director positions—for international ministries, and for Africa. In those two roles, he will be working closely with Brian Hanson, international global director, and Pastor Steve Flandorp, Africa global director.
Cassel had previously served as Africa global director since 2014, and under his leadership, 30 federal ministries were established in African nations.
In the past two years, he worked closely with Pastor Flandorp. As CapMin continued brisk international expansion, Cassel was often tapped to work with Pastor Hanson.
The move will enable Cassel to focus on two areas he is passionate about—serving in CapMin leadership in Africa to reach more people with God’s Word and helping CapMin expand internationally.
Decades ago, Cassel sensed a specific calling from the Lord to Africa. Since then, he has served with many international ministries on that continent including the Christian Broadcasting Network which broadcasts the Christian television program, The 700 Club.
Drollinger said Cassel will be an asset to CapMin in this dual role.
“CapMin is continuing to grow internationally and consequently, specific administrative needs have increased,” Drollinger said. “Because of this, Jon’s administrative giftedness is needed in a greater way. In one sense, we are dividing him so his skills will benefit two areas of ministry where he is needed most.”
Cassel is particularly skilled in planning CapMin’s international conferences. He organized the first Africa conference in Lome, Togo in 2015 and last year, he organized conferences in Seoul, Kathmandu, Brussels, and helped with Bogota. “I have now asked Jon to coordinate all of our international conferences,” Drollinger said.
Pastor Flandorp and Pastor Hanson, who have each worked with Cassel for many years, said Cassel will be invaluable to increasing the ministry in Africa and world-wide.
“Jon is a workhorse,” said Pastor Flandorp. “I experienced this while working with him at the two conferences in Cape Town in 2022 and 2024. He is a networker of note, and his passion for Africa has inspired many.
“Jon’s command of the English and French language is a great asset to the ministry and our Africa CapMin leadership. His knowledge of Africa supports our CapMin efforts.”
Cassel is also well known for networking. Once while swimming in the ocean, he overheard a man say he was from a certain African nation where CapMin needed a ministry leader. Cassel swam over to the man and the conversation they had led to Cassel successfully recruiting a new ministry leader for that country.
“Jon is an absolute bird dog on networking,” Pastor Hanson said. “If there is a common person or interest between two people, Jon will find it and track it down.”
Cassel said he is enthusiastic about the new opportunities. “I am excited to work with Brian expanding CapMin across the globe,” he said. “And my heart is in ministry to Africa and I am committed to working closely with Steve to achieve our shared goals for the continent.”
