This Week: Capitol Ministries Training Conference in Togo, Africa
Established Ministry Leaders and new candidates from 15 French-, Portuguese-, and English-speaking African nations will gather in Lomé, Togo this week for Capitol Ministries’ annual African Recruitment and Training Conference.Togo was selected for the event at the invitation of Faure Gnassingbe, President of Togo, who held a state dinner for Capitol Ministries at the close of last year’s training conference.
President Gnassingbe has said that he would like to see Capitol Ministries’ discipleship Bible studies planted in all of the 53 African nations, and has offered to promote the ministry at a conference that will be widely attended by other African Presidents later in October.
Capitol Ministries’ training conference will be held October 9-12 at the Hotel Sarakawa. New candidates will learn how to create and maintain discipleship ministries to the leaders of their nations, and established Ministry Leaders will receive additional instruction and opportunities for fellowship and networking.
“We are very enthusiastic about these men who have been called to such a strategic vocation,” said Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries. “We are grateful for prayer this week as we seek the Lord together, and especially for these men and the impact they will have as they disciple Christian leaders across Africa.”
French- and Portuguese-speaking African country attendees are: David Iteriteka from Burundi; Koffi Esaw from Togo; Habib Barth Afolabi from Togo; Mianbe LeGondje from Chad; Raymond Koffi from Cameroun; Romain Zannou from Benin; Anatole Banga from the Central African Republic; Solofo Ramaholimihaso from Madagascar; Mahamadou Sawadogo from Burkina Faso; Azarias Ruberwa from Congo; Alberto Guambe from Mozambique; and Jon Cassel from Senegal.
English-speaking African nation attendees are: Daniel Glymin from Ghana; Dr. Sylvester Rogers from Sierra Leone; Dennis Aggrey from Liberia; and Obi and Martha Onwuzurumba from Nigeria. Obi Onwuzurumba is Capitol Ministries’ Affinity Sphere Director for English-speaking Africa.
Jon Cassel, who is Capitol Ministries’ Affinity Sphere Director for French-speaking Africa, recruited the majority of the Ministry Leader candidates and worked with Zannou, Esaw, and Afolabi to plan the conference. Cassel also serves as Regional Director for The Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) in French-speaking Africa.
Capitol Ministries is grateful for their vital work that made this event possible.
Last year, 200 people attended the state dinner that President Gnassingbe arranged to honor Capitol Ministries.
Throughout the dinner, choirs sang Christian hymns and people strolled from table to table talking to the guests about Capitol Ministries and its mission of taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to political arenas around the globe.
The African expansion is part of Capitol Ministries’ international growth objective to impact and disciple Christian leaders in an effort to assure that biblical principles are present in the political arena.
Capitol Ministries has committed to planting and developing 200 ministries in 200 foreign federal Capitols in the coming years. Directors have been named for five of the world’s 10 global affinity spheres and we are seeking Directors for the remaining five spheres. These men are tasked with expanding the ministry in his sphere of the world.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Matthew 28:19-20.
