In-Depth Bible Studies in US Capitols Teach Lawmakers God’s Laws
August 2015
In-depth Bible studies are important to lawmakers because God is the head legislator of the universe. It is His law we are supposed to be living by. Every king in the Old Testament was supposed to not only own a copy of the law, but write out his own personal copy of the law, and have it right by his side so he would not stray from its teachings.
Deuteronomy 17:18-20 says, “Now it shall come about when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. It shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, by carefully observing all the words of this law and these statutes, that his heart may not be lifted up above his countrymen and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or the left, so that he and his sons may continue long in his kingdom in the midst of Israel.”
And secondly, the job of being a legislator is so stressful and difficult that they need a really solid spiritual foundation to serve God effectively. They need it because they should know God’s will, and they need it because in-depth teaching of the Bible is the only way any of us can grow.

Knowing very few people in his first 18 months as Ministry Leader, Pastor Walker knocked on doors at the New York State Capitol and when session was over, drove to district offices to knock on doors. In that time, Pastor Walker led 13 Legislators and one Legislative Aide to Christ. He is in the process of discipling them.
