Pastors Encouraged by CapMin Mission: Bible Studies to Public Servants Can Repair Tattered U.S. Moral Fabric!
There was a sense of discouragement about society’s moral downturn among the pastors and public servants who participated in the Pastor Appreciation Days event in Nashville, Tennessee recently.
“You could sense the frustration over the unraveling of the moral fabric of our society,” said Ray Strauss, Oklahoma ministry leader who was a part of the team representing Capitol Ministries at the Oct. 5 event.
“But when they heard about the mission of CapMin there was a sense of hope and encouragement. CapMin is bringing the needle and thread to help stitch the fabric back together.”
The event was one of Salem Media Group’s 19 Pastor Appreciation Days that the Christian media giant is hosting around the country all year in association with their owned and operated local radio station affiliates. As the primary national sponsor, CapMin will continue to participate in Salem’s events through the end of the year.
Representing CapMin in Nashville were Pastor Ray Strauss, Dr. Cheyne Day, Arkansas Ministry Leader, and his wife and ministry partner Misty, who also serves as CapMin’s national conference coordinator.
We are also participating in state and national meetings of Southern Baptist and Independent Baptist Conventions. In all, we expect to share our mission to create disciples of Jesus Christ among the political leaders throughout the world to the 20,000 pastors, church leaders, and public servants who will participate in the events.
We are also seeking to partner with churches and individuals to establish Local Government Ministries (LGM) weekly Bible study ministries for city and county political leaders in the 40,000 incorporated communities across America.
In Nashville, about 200 uniformed police officers, pastors, school administrators, and other civic leaders attended.
As at all Salem events, a pre-recorded video was played featuring Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of CapMin who explained our mission and invited participants to partner with us to establish LGM discipleship Bible study-based ministries to political leaders in their neighborhoods.
CapMin supplies ministry leaders with the curriculum, materials, training, and on-going support, all at no cost.
After Ralph’s video, murmurs of approval were audible throughout the room. “I heard numerous ‘Amens!’ and some said, “This is what our country needs!” Pastor Cheyne said.
After the meal, participants visited the vendor booths and many of those who stopped by the CapMin table voiced their support for our mission and Bible studies for public servants.
The CapMin team distributed complimentary copies of the books All in Authority, and Oaks in Office: Biblical Essays for Political Leaders, ministry brochures, in-depth Bible studies that have been written specifically for political leaders, and other material. Participants also have the opportunity to fill out forms requesting additional information. We are in the process of vetting nearly 700 ministry leaders candidates who have expressed interest at events so far this year.
As is true of other conferences, many of the Nashville participants were hearing about our unique mission for the first time. Among them was a school administrator from California who had recently re-located to Tennessee.
“She lamented that there is nothing good now in California,” Pastor Cheyne said. “She was surprised to hear that Capitol Ministries had been started in Sacramento in 1996 and that three pastor appreciation days had been held in California this year.
“She had tears in her eyes as she explained what has happened to her beloved state over recent years but she was greatly encouraged to hear of CapMin’s mission and ongoing progress.”
As we continue to forge partnerships for new ministries, please pray that many new ministry leaders would be raised up at these events, pray for the new ministry leaders, and that their ministries would bear much fruit.
