We All Want to Change the World. Here is How You Can!
We all want to change the world, but nations will only change for the better when the hearts of leaders are transformed with the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Bible assigns a high priority to reaching the world’s political leaders with the Gospel.
“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.” 1Timothy 2:1-2
The first priority in this work is the personal salvation of leaders, but a secondary benefit was best voiced years ago by the American statesman William Penn who said, good hearts make good laws.
As the Bible promises: “…so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
Twenty-one years ago, Capitol Ministries established a methodology that has proved successful and which every year is blessed by God in ways that astound us.
We have birthed 43 ministries in U.S. state capitols; three in Washington, D.C. to members of the White House Cabinet, U.S. Senators, and Representatives; and 24 in foreign nations. We have recently launched CivicReach®, a ministry that partners with local churches to take the Gospel to city and county leaders in America’s neighborhoods. Capitol Ministries remains a debt-free ministry.
We establish these outposts for Christ through sustainable Ministry Leaders, godly Bible teachers who have the hearts of evangelists. We partner them with Christian Public Servants who host weekly Bible studies inside capitol buildings and invite their colleagues to attend.
Ministry Leaders, many of whom are pastors with Seminary training, lead in-depth exegetical Bible studies that examine one book of the Bible at a time, verse by verse, which may take more than a year or more to complete. Through these Bible studies, the public servant is regularly immersed in God’s Word and discipled to maturity in his faith.
Ministry Leaders also provide the Public Servants they serve with pastoral support, counseling, and Christian fellowship.
For many of our Public Servants, these Bible studies and trustworthy relationships provide an oasis in the midst of what can be a hostile political environment. Here are some of the comments we have heard:
“For the world to change, the hearts of leaders must change, and Capitol Ministries is dedicated to changing the hearts of the leaders of the world.” U.S. Sen. James Lankford, Oklahoma
“Capitol Ministries Bible study has been very helpful to me personally. I enjoy the accountability of a weekly study that keeps us in the Word, as well as the interaction and fellowship with other members which is a real encouragement.” U.S. Senator Steve Daines, Montana
“I thank you for your faithful ministry, for bringing the Word of God, for bringing a Bible study, evangelism, and discipleship all around the globe and certainly here on Capitol Hill. I truly appreciate it.” U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, Pennsylvania
“Capitol Ministries comes along side; iron sharpens iron. The ministry is there to instruct, admonish, encourage, exhort, and inspire elected officials to lead their lives and conduct themselves in a way that brings glory to God, to remind us of what is important, what our priorities should be, and what we should be treasuring.” U.S. Senator John Thune, South Dakota
“Getting into the Word of God through Bible studies reminds Lawmakers of their own spiritual roots and increases their awareness of Biblical principles. And, too, the Word opens eyes just as it did for me. Years ago, I read the Bible preparing to teach Sunday school to teenagers and I went from being politically correct to being biblically correct.” Rhode Island State Senator Harold Metts, District 6
“It is very, very important that Capitol Ministries Bible studies are installed throughout the country and in federal capitols across the globe. They are of tremendous benefit to a nation — and to the world.” U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, Ohio
To accomplish this work successfully, many partners are needed.
Please join with us today in this important undertaking of fulfilling the Great Commission — Jesus’ command to spread His teachings to all the nations of the world.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
