Broadcasting our Mission! CapMin Launches Nationwide Radio Program with Ralph Drollinger Hosted by Frank Sontag
Ralph Drollinger, Bible teacher to America’s national political leaders, and acclaimed radio host Frank Sontag are joining for a new nationwide weekly radio program to discuss the Bible’s many answers to today’s contemporary issues and the importance of discipling political leaders.
Capitol Ministries Weekend is a half-hour talk-format program that begins airing on Christian radio stations across the nation on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. One-minute programs will soon follow and be broadcast 5 or 6 times each weekday (along with the weekend edition) on additional stations.
Having been friends for many years, Ralph and Frank offer listeners easy, enjoyable, engaging discussions. But when serious topics demand it, their breezy banter seamlessly pivots into uncompromising and dogged convictions with tight focus.
Ralph was a frequent guest for many years on The Frank Sontag show: Intersection of Faith and Reason, a Los Angeles CA drive-time program Frank hosted from 2013-2021 on KKLA. The voice of Capitol Ministries since 2017, Frank records Ralph’s weekly Bible studies which may be downloaded from our website.
On Capitol Ministries Weekend, Ralph and Frank will talk about the Bible study that Ralph will be personally teaching the coming week on the Hill to Members of the U.S. Senate, House of Representatives, former White House Cabinet Members and senior staff, as well as America’s governors.
From this national platform Ralph will also be recruiting Bible-teaching evangelists to lead weekly discipleship Bible studies to city and county public servants in their neighborhoods across America.
Recruiting Bible teachers to launch additional ministries to local public servants is actually the main objective of the radio program.
Since 1996, CapMin’s mission has been to create disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena throughout the world. We’ve established ministries in 43 state Capitols, in Washington, D.C. and in 60 foreign federal capitals. A few years ago CapMin launched efforts to build discipleship Bible studies to local city and county leaders in the U.S. and in foreign nations.
By God’s enablement, we’ve been successful and have established Local Government Ministries (LGMs) in communities in many states and other countries. Last year alone 50 new local government ministries were launched.
But our LGM objective is much larger.
CapMin is working to establish weekly discipleship Bible studies to the 500,000 local leaders in America’s 40,000 incorporated cities and counties! To accomplish this mission, we are partnering with churches and working to recruit LGM leaders such as retired pastors, lay pastors, Sunday school teachers, and retired businessmen.
As our nation continues an unprecedented moral free-fall, it has become more urgent to reach public servants for Christ early in their careers with God’s Word, disciple them in the truth, and aid them in their personally forming a biblical world view.
In discussing the new radio program, Ralph said the Bible places a priority on reaching public servants for God in both the Old and New Testaments—not lobbying them for better laws.
“When you, in essence, are attempting to get a public servant who rejects the Author of Scripture to accept the precepts of His book, you’re probably not going to be very successful,” he said. And yet what Evangelicalism has done the last 50 years in the political arena is just that through the religious right movement or Christian political activism.
“They’ve tried to change the laws of the country to keep it from sliding off a cliff and haven’t had much success. Now Roe v. Wade (which allowed for abortion on demand) was just overturned. We applaud that. But for the most part, our culture is cascading into darkness.
“And I think it’s because fundamentally, biblically, we haven’t followed the formula that Scripture already gives us.”
Ralph explained that in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, Paul is instructing his protégé and newly minted senior Pastor, Timothy that the first thing he needs to do as the new leader of the church is pray specifically and evangelistically for kings and all who are in authority with the objective of a here and now result: so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
The Greek word Paul uses at the start of the sentence construction is protos which means “first in priority.”
“Right there is the biblical formula that Evangelicals in the political arena today should follow—to evangelize kings and all who are in authority, as a first and important missiological manifestation of the body of Christ.
“Apart from emphasizing and manifesting the missiological mandate of Scripture of winning and discipling public servants in Christ, all other means of changing the trajectory of the country are doomed to failure. Mind you, this is not my personal opinion, this is the declaration of the Word of God.”
Frank observed that many Christians believe, and many pastors preach, that believers should stay out of politics because it is evil.
“That’s right,” said Ralph. “But 1 Timothy 2 disrupts that thought. God expects the Church to be the causal agent of change through the gospelization of the lost.
“He doesn’t say go out and lobby for new laws, He doesn’t say try to get someone who rejects the Author of Scripture to accept the precepts of His book. After 50 years, we should realize that doesn’t work too well.
“And so at CapMin we are following the biblical formula in fulfilling the Great Commission—and to the degree the body of Christ is about the pursuit of discipleship and the fulfillment of the Great Commission is the same degree it does and will affect culture.
“We’re saying, ‘Let’s find the best Bible teachers in every town in every state Capitol, in every federal Capitol of the world, who can take the gospel into that arena and effectuate change, not on the basis of moralizing the lost, but on the basis of evangelizing the lost and then mentoring them in scriptural precepts.’
“And so it makes all kinds of sense that Capitol Ministries should accelerate our mission nationwide, even through this radio program, so we may recruit people in every town to go into their City Hall not with banners, protestations and sit-ins, but much more importantly and primarily with a passion to begin to build discipleship relationships with political leaders.”
Listeners will be directed to CapMin’s website, capmin.org, where they may learn more about teaching the Bible to public servants in their communities. There, they may also download the 4-color Bible study our nation’s leaders will be poring over in Ralph’s separate in-person Bible studies on the Hill that week.
Drollinger has been writing studies specifically to meet the spiritual and professional needs of political public servants for the nearly 30 years he has been in this ministry.
A seminary-trained pastor and exegetical teacher, Ralph delves deeply into the Scriptures and tightly focuses each Bible study on what God’s Word says about every topic explored.
Hundreds of studies are available for download from the CapMin website, including many that investigate today’s complex social issues through the perspective of the Scripture’s immutable truth.
For more than 36 years, Frank Sontag has hosted talk radio programs in Los Angeles. Frank is the founder of KMG Ministries which is dedicated to addressing the crisis of manhood in our country while calling on all men to step forward and discover God’s purpose and plan for their lives. He is also the author of the book, Light The Way Home, My Incredible Ride from New Age to New Life.
Capitol Ministries Weekend will be aired on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings on Christian-format radio stations from San Diego, CA to New York City, NY, and from Little Rock AR to Detroit, MI and places in between all across America.
From its inception, the radio program will be broadcast on Salem Media Group’s 30 largest radio stations in America’s 30 largest media markets which comprise a reach to 50 percent of the nation. Syndication efforts are underway to increase the program’s visibility on the remaining 50 percent of the nation’s Christian format stations.
To support this new effort, we’ll be making some changes in the way we communicate with you.
Soon we will begin sending you via email on Saturdays the Bible study that Ralph will be teaching in Washington, D.C. in the coming week. This will give you the opportunity to read the study ahead and pray for Ralph and our nation’s political leaders as Ralph leads them in a deep dive into the Scriptures.
You may also wish to contact your U.S. senator and representative to inform them about CapMin’s face-to-face Bible study that is available to them on the Hill every week they are in session.
On Tuesdays we’ll email to you a description and link to the radio program that aired in case you missed it or want to share it with a friend.
On Thursdays we will continue sharing ministry updates: inspiring stories from our Bible teachers or the political leaders we serve in America and around the world.
Please tune in this week for our first program. Find your station here.
We are so excited to begin this new ministry to the nation. We encourage you to share this news with your friends and families who live in other states so they too may study the same Bible studies that are being taught to the men and women who are making policy, enacting laws, and guiding our nation.
We ask that you please pray along with us for God’s leading, that hearts will be open to the Scriptures, and that many would come to know Him by hearing His Word.
