Capitol Ministries’ first European Recruiting and Training Conference was enthusiastically received by new ministry leader recruits as well as a large number of political leaders who participated from 15 different nations.
Strategically located in Brussels, Belgium, the training conference attracted more than 70 participants involving 24 political leaders including two members of the European Parliament, four members of national parliaments, a mayor, and a governor.
“One third of the participants were political leaders who we call insiders,” said Pastor Valeriu Ghiletchi, CapMin’s ministry leader to the European Union who also co-leads a Bible-study based ministry for members of the Moldovan Parliament. “These leaders play an important role in opening the door for CapMin’s Bible studies and prayer groups in capitals where parliaments are located.”
The training, held in the fall of 2024, was provided for new ministry leader candidates who had been recruited by CapMin global directors last year from nations across Europe. They were there to learn CapMin’s proven, time tested, and honed methodology for establishing and sustaining discipleship ministries for political leaders.
Ralph Drollinger, president and founder of CapMin, and Brian Solomon, global director for training, provided instruction on a variety of topics including how to launch discipleship Bible studies, biblical teaching methods, the value of discipleship and relationship building, the priority of evangelism, the importance of leading public servants toward maturity in Christ, and why CapMin does not engage in political activism and lobbying, among many other topics.
“The location for the conference was strategically selected, Brussels being one of the European Union capitals,” Pastor Ghiletchi said.
“One of the training sessions was held in the European Parliament, which was very symbolical and meaningful. There we prayed for the European Parliament, for Europe, for peace in Ukraine and Israel.”
“The training was a great success. Ralph and Brian offered a wonderful Bible teaching. The feedback from participants was very encouraging.”
A mayor from Ukraine shared his testimony.
“For him it was a great blessing to be away from the war, to sleep peacefully without waking in the middle of the night because of missile attacks,” Pastor Ghiletchi said. “The training was for him a good base and motivation to do Bible study for his colleagues.”
“A ministry leader from UK said that his only regret is that he did not hear this wonderful training years ago when he started his ministry to members of parliament.”
A member of the European Parliament, Bert-Jan Ruissen, posted on Instagram, “attended a very inspiring two-day conference of Capitol Ministries in Brussels. They provide Bible studies in the U.S. for members of the Senate and the House of Representatives, among others. Important work that deserves to be followed in our parliaments.”
Pastor Ghiletchi said his prayer is for Capitol Ministries to expand into three to five European countries this year.
“Looking by faith into 2025, we pray for new ministry leaders to establish Bible study ministries in their own capitols.”
