Capitol Ministries Booth Draws Exceptional Interest at The Gospel Coalition Convention
The Capitol Ministries team had the great privilege of exhibiting at “TGC25” in Indianapolis (April 22-24, 2025)—an event that drew more than 7,000 attendees from around the globe, including pastors, elders, deacons, and active laymen.
From the moment the exhibit hall opened, it was clear: God had gone before us, preparing hearts and paving the way. The Capitol Ministries booth quickly became a vibrant center of activity, genuine interest, and meaningful conversations. “Outside the bookstore,” said Brian Hanson, Director of International Ministries, “I dare say no booth had more people stop by for deep, intentional conversations. Our team was in full all-hands-on-deck mode for hours at a time, as curious attendees stopped to ask questions, pick up literature, and explore how Capitol Ministries is advancing the Gospel in the heart of government.”
Many were surprised and delighted to learn that a ministry to political leaders exists. As Brian explained:
“The first reaction to our ministry is often surprise. People don’t realize there is a biblically sound, discipleship-based ministry specifically focused on political leaders. Once they hear that we’re not about changing policy but about making disciples of Jesus Christ in the halls of power, there’s a joyful realization. They’re encouraged—many of them deeply.”
That message resonated widely. In fact, the team estimates that nearly 300 meaningful connections took place throughout the conference days. The booth distributed more than 350 copies of All in Authority—a powerful resource that explains the missiology behind Capitol Ministries. In addition, 50 four-volume sets of Oaks in Office—a comprehensive collection of 72 Bible studies for public servants—were given to individuals with strong political ties or ministry potential.
Annette was a passerby whose curiosity was piqued when she saw the Capitol Ministries banner. “I was just captivated by the name,” she said as she approached the booth. As the team opened a brochure with her and explained the mission, her eyes lit up. Among the sponsors of D.C. Bible study, she recognized a name—Congressman Rudy Yakym of Indiana—whom she had once babysat as a child.
“I cannot be happier knowing that he is one of the sponsors of your Bible Study for Congressmen,” Annette said, visibly moved. It was a moment of full-circle grace—a reminder that God’s providence stretches across decades and life chapters, drawing people together for His purposes.
The reach of the event extended far beyond the U.S. One particularly moving moment came when Satya Sastry, a visitor from India, stopped by to learn more. The more he heard about the mission and vision of CapMin, the more excited he became. By the end of the conversation, he was envisioning ways to begin a similar ministry in his own local government.
The CapMin team also connected with pastors from Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia—demonstrating that the hunger for biblical discipleship in the political sphere is global.
Among those who stopped by was a bi-vocational pastor from Canada named David, who was deeply moved by the ministry’s mission. “I really applaud your efforts to draw the church’s attention to the mission field of elected officials,” he said. “The churches tend to stay away from politics, but those in politics need to hear the Gospel just as much as anyone else. Some of my relatives are elected officials in provincial cities, and they need these Bible studies.”
Recognizing both the interest and the opportunity, the team provided David and his wife with a full pack of Capitol Ministries resources and challenged him to prayerfully consider whether he might be the one God is calling to plant such a ministry in Ontario.
The success of the booth was due in large part to a united, well-prepared team. Misty Day, the Conference Coordinator, skillfully handled all logistics and arrangements. Her husband Cheyne Day, Ministry Leader in Arkansas, brought dedication and warmth to each encounter. Brian Hanson shared passionately and boldly about the mission of CapMin while Alberty Reyes, Caribbean Global Director, engaged with Spanish speaking pastors and collected data from pastors who signed up to partner with CapMin.
“It was a great blessing for me personally,” said Alberty. “I saw so much interest from churches and individuals who want to serve those in authority and invest in this mission field. It’s an honor to serve on this wonderful team.”
Capitol Ministries continues to grow in visibility and favor among those who care deeply about the Gospel for the public square. The field is ripe for harvest, but the laborers are desperately needed. Will you join us in this mission?
