Eager to Serve Local Political Leaders! Pastors and Church Leaders in NYC Embrace the CapMin Mission

Hundreds of pastors and church leaders visited the Capitol Ministries booth during the Pastor Appreciation Day event held in New York City. Many expressed gratitude for our mission to reach all local elected officials with the gospel so they may lead with a Christian worldview.
More than 800 participated in the event that was held by Christian broadcasting giant, Salem Media Group in association with their owned and operated local radio station affiliates—and sponsored by Capitol Ministries.
CapMin is the primary national sponsor of Salem’s 19 national PAD events. Teams of CapMin leaders are participating in the events to recruit men to lead Local Government Ministries (LGM).
At the New York event, more than 60 people requested information about how to become a CapMin local government ministry leader in their city.
“Many Evangelicals perceive New York City to be an eroding, woke-driven city,” said Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries. “The American Bible Society reported that while 71 percent of New Yorkers identify themselves as Christians, only 19% attend church, pray, and read the Bible. And so, we were encouraged by the response at the NYC event.”
The CapMin booth was stocked with 4-color, in-depth Bible studies written specifically for public servants, CapMin brochures, books, and other materials. Manning the booth were Dr. Dan DeShong, CapMin LGM global director, along with state capital ministry leaders Morris Webster (Delaware), Raymond Goodlett (Virginia), and Cheyne Day (Arkansas). Misty Day was also present (Cheyne’s wife) who also serves as CapMin’s national conference coordinator.
Dr. DeShong said: “Each CapMin leader had very special gifts and a desire to serve. We had fun with our preparation and implementation at the Booth.
“We were blessed to hear a message from Pastor Allen Jackson from World Outreach Church in Nashville, Tenn. His message could have been an exact duplication of one of Ralph’s Bible studies. Along those lines, Ralph is presently working to forge a new ministry in the executive branch of the Nashville, Tennessee state Capitol with Pastor Jackson and Governor Bill Lee.
“There was great participation, and you could feel the wheels turning from pastors as we shared the mission of CapMin with church leaders from New York and the surrounding New England states. They were excited to consider becoming a part of such a large outreach on their local level.”
Be praying as our CapMin teams follows up, vets, selects and trains these new LGM leaders. Heart change in our political leaders at all levels of civil governance is where long-lasting cultural change begins and is sustained. Therein lies the foundation and direction of a city, state and nation; all other efforts equate to spackling the cracks in the upper stories of a high-rise building.
