Incoming U.S. Reps Told – Bible Studies Fortify In Hurricane-Force Pressures
In-depth Bible studies fortify Congressional believers amid whirlwind pressures of office, Rep. Glenn Thompson told newly-elected U.S. Representatives at a breakfast reception held last week to introduce them to Capitol Ministries.
“This is a tough job,” Rep. Thompson said. “A lot of influences come at you constantly whether it be from the party, or leadership, or issues, or interests, and they are all special.
“It can feel like you are standing in the face of a hurricane.
“If you are not armored, if you are not equipped, if you are not standing on God’s Word, it is easy to be swept along by some of these powerful influences. For me, that is why Capitol Ministries Bible studies are so important. They ground you in the Word of God.”
The breakfast reception was held to acquaint newly-elected U.S. Representatives with Capitol Ministries and the Members Bible Studies that are taught weekly by Ralph Drollinger, President and Founder of Capitol Ministries.
The event was hosted by long-time Members Bible Studies sponsors, Rep. Thompson, Pennsylvania; Rep. Tom Price, Georgia; and Rep. Scott Garrett, New Jersey.
This past week President-elect Donald Trump appointed Rep. Price, House Budget Committee Chairman and orthopedic surgeon, to head the Department of Health and Human Services.
More than a dozen new Members who will be sworn into office in January have committed to attending the Members Bible Study. Drollinger said he was particularly encouraged by the number of incoming House Members who are mature believers.
“I personally know of 14 new Members who are strong in their Christian faith,” Drollinger said. “What’s even more exciting is their desire to be involved in deep Bible study.
“I do not say this with aspersion but objectively: generally speaking, those Members coming into office have a far greater desire to be taught the Word of God than did many of those who are leaving.
“This observation tells me that the Holy Spirit is moving. I have never been so encouraged relative to our ministry in D.C.!”
At the reception Drollinger fielded questions about Capitol Ministries before he taught last week’s Bible study: Maintaining Biblical Attitudes With New Political Leadership.
The study is a comparative biblical analysis of how Joseph, Daniel, and Mordecai, three Old Testament leaders, rose from obscurity to the number two positions in their respective governments. Read the full study here.
Drollinger teaches Congressmen weekly exegetical studies that examine one book of the Bible at a time, verse by verse over the course of a year or more. Capitol Ministries also publishes 52 weekly in-depth four-color illustrated Bible studies every year that are hand delivered to Congressmen and sent by email to those who request them.
These studies pertain to the political, personal, and faith issues facing Legislators, such as Is Salvation by Faith Alone in Christ Alone? Solomon’s Advice On How To Eliminate A $19 Trillion Debt, and What Does the Bible Teach in Regards to Property Rights? Sign up for weekly e-mail Bible studies via at capmin.org!
Drollinger has taught weekly Bible studies to Members of the House of Representatives since 2010. In 2015 Capitol Ministries established a separate study for U.S. Senators. The Members Bible Studies are sponsored by 68 Congressmen.
Capitol Ministries, which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary, has established evangelistic, discipleship Bible studies in more than 40 state Capitols and birthed ministries in 24 foreign federal Capitols on four continents.
