Steve Flandorp

Director, Africa
Pastor Steve Flandorp, Africa Director for CapMin, believes the continent holds a vital place in fulfilling the Great Commission through the ministry’s mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena around the world. He has said that Africa is central to the spread of the Gospel globally, especially at a time when Christianity has declined in many Western nations, and that CapMin’s discipleship model can help change the trajectory of the continent—and ultimately the world.

He is the senior pastor of Cape Gateway International Church, which he and his wife, Louise, planted more than 30 years ago. A graduate of Cape Bible Training College, Pastor Flandorp also brings significant business and leadership experience to the ministry. He previously led an investment initiative between the South African government and Eskom, pursued studies in electrical engineering, completed a diploma in business management through the University of South Africa, and studied economic development at Georgia Tech in Atlanta while focusing on international fixed foreign direct investment. He also holds certificates and diplomas in marketing, entrepreneurship, governance, management, finance, administration, and leadership.

In addition to his pastoral role, Pastor Flandorp serves as president of the international Fellowship of Churches and as regional hub leader for Movement Day Africa, Southern Region. He also holds advisory and directorship roles in several organizations, including SCF Project Consulting and Keep the Dream 308 Foundation. Over the years, he taught for many years in a Bible school, and he has shared the Gospel with church leaders, political leaders, and emerging leaders in churches, business leadership camps, and government chambers. He has also ministered internationally, teaching God’s Word at conferences across Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States.

Pastor Steve and Louise Flandorp are second-generation pastors and church planters who are deeply committed to mobilizing the church to transform the communities where people live and work. They have four adult children. In South Africa, Pastor Flandorp also leads a CapMin Bible study for national leaders and is passionate about expanding discipleship-based Bible study ministries among political leaders across the continent. He emphasizes the importance of biblical foundations in public leadership, noting that without the truth of God’s Word shaping hearts and minds, both decision-making and character are compromised.
