The Unexpected, Wide-Open Door for Capitol Ministries Asia

During recent travels throughout Asia, one truth became increasingly clear: God continues opening doors in places where ministry opportunities often appear humanly impossible.
Across Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, the Capitol Ministries team witnessed firsthand how faithful leaders are expanding Bible-teaching ministries among political leaders despite significant cultural, religious, and governmental challenges.
“I am in awe,” said Danielle Drollinger, President of Capitol Ministries. “These were some of the best launches I have ever attended. Watching the Lord quietly open doors in places where ministry once seemed impossible was incredibly encouraging. Time after time, we witnessed God creating opportunities that we could never have planned ourselves.”
In Sri Lanka, where Parliament remains predominantly Buddhist, encouraging changes are taking place as more Christians are being elected into public office. Our National Ministry Leader, Pastor Satheeshsegaran Ramasamy Balasegaran (who goes by “Satheesh”), whom Capitol Ministries trained several years ago, has launched numerous ministries at both the local and provincial levels while also personally meeting one-on-one with Members of Parliament. Many Bible study leaders he has trained attended the launch, demonstrating the multiplying impact of faithful ministry leadership.
Bangladesh presented perhaps the most unexpected opportunity of the entire trip. In a nation that is 91% Muslim, where Christians represent only 0.03% of the population, the Prime Minister opened a room inside the Capitol building for Bible study ministry to begin. Although authorities closely monitored activities and security personnel observed the launch, our Bangladesh ministry leaders, Richard Biswas and Nohemio Biswas, continue moving forward with courage as they establish ministry efforts not only among parliamentarians but also throughout local and regional governments.
In Bhutan, where public evangelism remains illegal, more than 20 pastors gathered to support the ministry launch and partner together in reaching political leaders with the Gospel. One Christian Member of Parliament attended the launch and committed to helping introduce additional lawmakers to ministry leaders moving forward.
One of our Ministry Leaders, Pradeep Chhetri, owns a café within walking distance of the Capitol. He and his restaurant staff serve many Members of Parliament each week. Pradeep and his fellow ministry team members rented a small room next door to the café by faith, and dedicated it to the Lord as a private place where they could share the Gospel—and the Lord is answering their prayers.
These launches represent far more than individual events. They represent new relationships, growing discipleship opportunities, and expanding access to political leaders throughout Asia.
What we witnessed repeatedly throughout this trip was that the Lord continues to do what only He can do—opening doors where none previously existed.
“Through your prayers and God’s grace, we successfully launched ministries in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Bhutan,” said Kumar Praja, Capitol Ministries Director for Asia. “These launches remind us that there is no impossible place for God when we faithfully build relationships and continue moving forward in faith.”
As new relationships continue to form and ministry leaders faithfully invest in elected officials, Capitol Ministries remains committed to strengthening these efforts—trusting that the same God who opened these doors will continue to expand His work in the months and years ahead. To God be the glory!
