Please Pray for Training Conference for New Ministry Leaders in U.S. and Africa!
Please join us in prayer as Capitol Ministries holds a mid-summer training conference to teach newly-named ministry leaders how to create discipleship ministries to political leaders in the United States and in one African nation.
The training will be held in Cedarville, Ohio on July 27-29. Leading the sessions will be Brian Hanson, CapMin’s International director, and Brian Solomon who co-chairs with Pastor Hanson the discipleship Bible study to members of the Ohio Legislature.
Newly-named ministry leaders from Pennsylvania, Montana, and Zimbabwe are expected to attend the training. Capitol Ministries holds training conferences throughout the world when they are needed to instruct Bible teachers the CapMin methodology of creating and sustaining discipleship ministries to political leaders.
The conference will cover the value of relationship building, and the importance of exegetical teaching, pastoral care, evangelism, and discipling public servants in Christ, among other topics.
Ohio state Rep. Jena Powell has been invited to address the group and will speak about the benefits she has seen in the weekly Bible study she attends, and the importance of a Christian public servant using the Bible as the basis of truth.
Pastor Hanson and Pastor Solomon will also teach about the Biblical authority for Capitol Ministries’ mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena throughout the world.
“In our trainings we lay the foundation for the Capitol Ministries vision, our mission, methodology and the biblical mandate that is found in 1 Timothy 2:1 which says “first of all” or protos, which means first in priority, that “prayers, petitions and thanksgivings be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity,” Pastor Hanson said.
“It’s important that leaders of nations learn the Word of God because it points them to true north. It is our guidepost. Without it, Christian leaders may think, ‘I should vote this way,’ or I assume this is the right thing to do.’ But weekly Bible studies remove the variable of ‘opinion’ and inform the Christian leader exactly what God’s Word says.”
Because of the influence they may have on so many others, the Bible places a high priority on reaching political leaders for Christ, which is something many ministry leaders are not aware of until they joined with CapMin, said Pastor Solomon.
“The urgency with which our elected officials need to be reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the authority of God’s Word is imperative around the world,” he said. “It has certainly been heightened for us in Ohio. The Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives was brought up on bribery and corruption charges just this week and the work we do to point public servants toward Christ has never been more needed.”
Capitol Ministries is asking our prayer partners, friends, supporters, and donors to join CapMin in praying that God will bless these new ministry leaders, that these new ministries will bear much fruit, and that God’s purposes will be accomplished.
