Ganga Ram Thapa
Ministry Leader, BhutanThat’s one reason he joined Capitol Ministries, serving as Ministry Leader in the south Asian country of Bhutan. Day by day, he seeks to disciple district and national political leaders, grounding them in the Word of God.
Pastor Thapa understands intimately the power of Scripture to transform the lives of those who hear and believe. Nonetheless, there’s still much work ahead, especially considering the persecution of Christians in his country. From the capital Thimphu to the outskirts of the nation, Bhutan is a Buddhist society, where the Christian Church is not fully recognized.
This often forces believers to meet privately and secretly inside homes, with the potential for criminal penalties if caught. Despite the realities of persecution, the pastor’s faith in God is much bigger than any opposition. “It’s my calling to bring discipleship to the political arena,” he shares. As he ministers to public servants, he prays that one day there will be no more persecution as an entire nation comes to know Jesus Christ.
In preparation for his ministry role, he completed a discipleship training course. His evangelism experience also includes years of leading his church congregation. He and his wife have two children.
Today, as Pastor Thapa partners with CapMin, he remains determined to share the Gospel of Christ. Through in-depth Bible studies and specific applications for national leaders, he believes the Gospel can bring about top-down, exponential growth of the Church within Bhutan.
