Pradeep Chhetri
Local Government Ministry Leader,Thimpu
“As a believer, it’s a biblical mandate to pray for those in authority and make disciples,” he states. “I have a strong calling from God to evangelize and teach the unreached.”
The minister has been passionate about sharing the Gospel for some time, but he felt called to do more. After many prayers, Capital Ministries is where God guided him.
His background includes experience with youth ministry leadership, along with biblical and career counseling for new college graduates. Pradeep has also led several Bible teaching services at church.
He earned an advanced diploma from the University of Advanced Studies in Hotel Management in Switzerland. In addition, the pastor studied to get a BBA from the Royal University of Bhutan, and a degree in financial management from East Carolina University.
Today, Pradeep is married to Rebika Sunar and has two young sons.
“It’s a tough and joyous work of making disciples in the political arena,” he shares, “which requires passion, calling, spiritual proficiency, responsibility, and accountability to be able to evangelize all high in authority.”
Pradeep recognizes that public servants have “great responsibility” as they influence both the law and culture. This great responsibility also means that they are often in the public eye. In Bhutan, being a Christian is frowned upon as most of the society is Buddhist. Only about 5% or less of the country is identified as Christian. Pastor Pradeep’s hope is that those who come to know Christ will be strengthened in spite of societal opposition.
“Bible studies offer them consistent encouragement, boldness, and spiritual insight,” he says. With continued studying, and continued profession of faith, Pastor Pradeep is looking forward to the fruit God brings about through his ministry.
