Rev. Dr. Gene Sipprell has served as Ministry Leader to legislators and legislative aides at the Minnesota State Capitol since July 2022. He has led an ongoing weekly Bible study to local elected leaders in his hometown of Chaska, MN for three years. In 2023, Rev. Dr. Sipprell was named Local Government Ministries (LGM) Midwest Regional Director along with co-director Nate Belkstrom. The two men share the responsibilities of recruiting Bible teachers to establish discipleship ministries to city and county public servants in the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Serving as the Capitol Ministries Minnesota Ministry Leader, he delivers Bible studies to legislative offices and also leads an in-person Bible study for legislative assistants. He has been asked to open the Minnesota House legislature in prayer twice, once by a Democrat and once by a Republican. Rev. Dr. Sipprell participates in the Minnesota Capitol Prayer Network at the Capitol year-round, and the Minnesota Family Council Church Pastor’s Ambassador Network when the Legislature is in session. He is also part of a coalition of church ministries that serve at the Capitol. Rev. Dr. Sipprell earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity school, Deerfield, Illinois.

As LGM Midwest Regional Director, Rev. Dr. Sipprell has participated in LGM training events around the country.

Rev. Dr. Sipprell also serves half-time as a campus pastor with Presbyterian Homes where he has served for 21 years. He has 40 years of ministry experience, including missionary work in West Berlin, Germany, during the time the Berlin Wall came down. He is married to Lowie Sipprell who works as a nurse practitioner, and the couple has two sons, now adults, they adopted from Russia.

He is most excited to assist anyone interested in reaching elected officials for Christ in the political arena.
