Satheesh Balasegaran serves as Capitol Ministries’ Ministry Leader in Sri Lanka. He ministers to local and national political leaders, bringing the truth of God’s Word to those entrusted with leadership and encouraging them to govern with biblical wisdom.
Satheesh brings to this ministry role more than 25 years of pastoral and teaching experience, including more than 20 years devoted to expository Bible teaching. He holds a master’s degree in theology and has ministered within his local church as well as through pastoral gatherings and outreach ministries.
Satheesh and his wife, Rachel, have two daughters, Michelle and Abigail.
For years, Satheesh faithfully prayed for government leaders but had not considered intentionally reaching those in the political arena with the Gospel. That changed in 2023 when Capitol Ministries’ Asia Director, Kumar Singh Praja, invited him to Nepal for Ministry Leader training. There, Satheesh gained a new understanding of the biblical mandate to reach political leaders with the Word of God.
“There is a huge need among politicians,” Satheesh shares. “They need wisdom, encouragement, biblical counseling, and instruction from the Bible.”
Today, Satheesh is putting that conviction into practice by developing relationships with political leaders and meeting with them to pray and study the Bible. He has seen God open doors, including an ongoing relationship with a politician who regularly participates in Bible study and has grown in his faith.
Satheesh cites 1 Timothy 2:1–3 as foundational to his ministry, believing Christians are called not only to pray for those in authority but also to intentionally bring biblical truth to them. “They need a model to lead the nation and divine wisdom,” he says. His objective through Capitol Ministries is simple: to make disciples for Christ.
Satheesh is also developing a Mission House in Sri Lanka where pastors and ministry leaders can rest, pray, study, and be spiritually refreshed. He hopes it will also provide opportunities to introduce emerging leaders to the importance of praying for and reaching political leaders with the Gospel.
Step by step, Satheesh is trusting God to open doors among Sri Lanka’s political leaders, believing that biblical truth in the lives of those who govern can influence communities throughout the nation.
