Rajen Thapa

John 3:16 has long been meaningful to Rajen, reminding him that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” That simple but powerful truth is at the heart of his ministry: the Gospel is for everyone, including those serving in the political arena.

Rajen has served as a pastor in New Delhi for 20 years and currently pastors New Life Salvation Baptist Church, where his ministry focuses on preaching, teaching, discipleship, and community outreach. He has also taught for eight years at Discipleship International Baptist Theological Seminary in New Delhi. Rajen holds a Bachelor of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry degree.

Rajen and his wife, Elishiba, have one son, Jabez.
When Rajen received Capitol Ministries training in 2023, he immediately recognized another mission field: India’s political leaders. For a pastor who has spent two decades telling others about Christ, the calling to disciple public servants was a natural extension of what he was already doing.

“To reach out to those who do not know about Jesus Christ among the political leaders—it is very good for me to approach them, to teach, and to share about Jesus Christ,” Rajen explains.

His desire is to faithfully teach Scripture, make disciples, and equip believers to serve Christ. He also believes in-depth Bible study can have an impact far beyond an individual leader. As political leaders gain wisdom from Scripture and allow it to guide their decisions, Rajen believes their influence can help bring righteousness and justice into the communities they serve.

That ministry is not without challenges. Christians in parts of India face persecution and acts of hostility from radical groups. Rajen does not take those realities lightly, but they have not diminished his desire to serve.
“By the grace of God, God is with us,” he says. “We believe in Him. We trust in Him. Because of that, we are serving.”

Rajen asks others to pray for his spiritual growth and for God to equip him to teach His Word faithfully. He especially asks for prayer that he will know how to teach about Jesus in a way that opens doors into the political arena, even in the face of opposition. His hope is that Capitol Ministries will continue to equip him to approach political leaders with courage, biblical truth, and the good news of Jesus Christ.
